Wiring Question

Is there any way to get your license plate bulbs to light up when you unlock your car? I know on different cars, different lights are lit when you unlock your car by remote (license plate, headlights, parking lights, etc). I was just wondering if there was anyway to wire for us to re-wire for our license plate bulbs to light up when we hit the unlock button... just another way to show off my cool looking bulbs to my passengers

Everything is possible but if you make 1 (one) mistake you'll be looking for replacement Smart Entrance Control Unit since ultimately this is the unit flashing your turn signals on car unlock. Do you still want to do this?

I haven't seen any "directions" on how to do this, so you are pioneering a new mod. You can't just splice some wires between the brake lights and the license plate lights, because then the brake lights would be on whenever the license plate lights are on. Also, I hope that when you splice wires, you solder them.

Just wire the lamps to the rear parking lights.

well i've never actually done it before, but I've seen it done in the way where you strip both wires.. tie the copper together, then attach a little plastic piece to connect the 2... is that soldering, or should i never go near anything electrical.. ever? lol

well, that wouldn't be what i was trying to accomplish because the parking lights dont stay on when you unlock the car.. i want it to where you hit unlock on your remote, the license plate lights stay on.. like the courtesy lamp inside the car.. you think it would be possible to wire the license plate lights to the courtesy lamp?

The work is involved as one member who was successful in tapping the courtesy aka dome light had to tap the wires directly at the dome light which means running an entire length of wiring through his roof liner. So for your purpose, wiring through roof to rear deck, through trunk lid and to license bulbs.
