does your car do the same thing?

i noticed when the engine is cold my car transmission takes longer to shift into gears, specially when shifting in to the first gear. It takes like 3 to 5 minutes warm up before it start to shift normal. why does it do that? its 02 maxima, auto.

Is it slipping? Tranny fluid takes longer too warm up.

My tranny slips from 1-2 when it's cold.

It needs to be rebuilt to fix, or I could delay the inevitable by getting a shift kit and solenoids.

yeah mine will do the same if i let it. But i let it warm up first so that it does not. once at proper temp, no slipping or delay of any kind.

Real soft 2-3 shift when cold, occasionally flares 100-200 rpm. Shifts perfectly once warmed up. I just take it easy until the car is warmed up. Shift kit would probably fix it but not sure I want to put one into a transmission with nearly 140,000 miles. I guess it depends on how long I want to keep the car. Might be better off in the long run if I decide to keep the car a while to plan on putting in a low mileage engine and transmission and save the shift kit money for a fresher tranny.

Ours seems to do the same thing. And when it shifts gears, it sorta makes a "gurgling" noise, from what I can remember...
