Question about Y-pipe?

Hey guys,
I am planning to get a Y-pipe for my 2000 SE. Will I see any noticable gains with just a Y-pipe?? I am completely stock.
I am choising between two Y-pipes, either Stillen or Cattman.

Which on would give me the best power gains, and which one will install the best, meaning no problems after the install??

Thanks.

yes, you will feel it. But it would best if you coupled it with some sort of an intake. Both Stillen and Cattman pipes will be good. There should be no performance difference. If you live in a place with harsh weather, get Cattman since it is stainless steel and will not rust. Otherwise the Stillen pipe should be fine also.

Well a Ypipe is the best mod for the money. IT will give a HUGE gain according to the people who have it. IT dont really matter which brand you get, but I know Cattman offers a Stainless Steel one that is good for people who live in harsh conditions.

Just make you get the right one, like if you got a cali or fed spec car.

I think Cattman Y-pipe is more expensive than the Stillen Y-pipe?

I think Cattman is like $399, I am not sure what Stillen goes for..
Anyone has any price info on Stillen Y-pipe?

Thanks.

Last time I checked was $347 with gaskets with like 25 for shipping. They were backordered the last time I checked too.

I was on the Toll road here in Dulles VA going about 170, I know the speedo is off, so I was probably going in reality about 155-160. And yes I was shaking and ran outta road.

just wondering...how much wheel hp produced by installing:
1) y-pipe only?
2) y-pipe + CAI (or with cone intake)?
3) Manual vs. automatic for each of the above?

thanks

I think y-pipe alone will get you between 8-12 hp... with intake, probably around 15... numbers will be a few hp higher for manual vs auto....

On Cattman website, he sells gaskets for Y-pipe..

Do I need to get thouse gaskets or can the Y-pipe be installed without them?

Thanks.

so I guess it's safe to say that an auto will gain about..hmm..10 hp (y-pipe + intake) at the wheel? will additional hp gained at higher rpm level compensate hp lost at lowered rpm level? i.e. will 0-60 time be the same?

Also, anyone experienced any problems after installing y-pipe/intake (heard something like condensation built up for CAI, difficulty in initial startup, etc)?

thanks man!

So you saying that you loose power at low end with Y-pipe?

I though Y-pipe gives you more torque at low end too?

Thanks.

You won't lose any low-end by installing a y-pipe... at least I didn't notice anything like that. Gains are from mid-range upwards.... 3k rpm to redline.

I have not had any problems or recall anyone having problems from the y-pipe... so far so good
