Water leaking from the top left corner of windshield

Has anyone had rain water leak through the top left corner, right where the plastic trim of A-pillar meets the roof trim? I got the car a month ago and has not been in rain till today. Today, when it hit 38 degrees in jersey and rained all day. I'm trying to figure out where the water is getting in. It could be either the corner of sunroof or the top corner of windshield. I pulled off the rubber trim near the windshield, and looks like there's some kind of white caulk in there, from previous owner ******* trying to fix it and not say anything about it. Anyone have similar problem? I got a bunch of papertowels shoved inside the roof trim right now, they're getting soaked quick. I live in a building with no garage, sucks.

Well, if this were my VW, I'd say the drain tube in the A-pillar has come unhooked and the sunroof drain is emtying down the inside of the A-pillar. But, I can't recall if the Maxima has drains in the front of the sunroof hatch.

If it doesn't, then I'd say you have a leaky windshield seal.

You haven't said if you pulled the A-pillar cover yet. In the meantime, get a tarp and throw it over the top of the car to keep the rain from pouring in.

Thanks for the quick response fellas. The rain has almost stopped. I found the front sunroof drains, and poured a bunch of water in them, but nothing leaked. Around the sunroof area I pulled on the ceiling trim to look inside, and it does kinda look like the water is getting on it around the front left corner of the sunroof. Maybe somehow rain water got there, past that drain. What's screwed up, I'm pouring buckets of water on the sunroof, even with it open about 8th of an inch, the water goes in the drain, but not leaking to the inside. I did pull of the A pillar trim and watching for the leak to come from the corner edge of the ceiling trim. I'm stumped at this point. Will go pour more water, wish it wasn't so damn cold.

Looks like I've got this A-pillar problem, leaking in all four corners though. Now, I just need to know how exactly do you access these drains?!? Thanks for your help...

If you open the sunroof and look in the front driver's side you should see the drain tubes. I used a wire and gently cleaned out the drain tube and then tested drainage by pouring water down the tube. You should see the water draining behind the driver's side front wheel. The tube tends to clog where the water first enters from the sunroof. A lot of dust and dirt accumulates in this area. Fortunately the clog was not farther down in the pillar. I have not had the same issue since. You may want to use something plastic and rigid, IIRC the tubes are rubber and could be damaged with wire or a hanger.

If you do a search there is info, that's how I figured out to fix.

Is there any rust around the windshield? My 2002 basically rusted through up by the top of the windshield to the point of leaking.

Be sure to check under the molding up there.
