Maxima Service

Right now, I have about 25,500 miles on Maxima. I performed an intermediate service around 18k. Just wondering, where does everyone take their cars to service? What's one of the most popular servicing that you guys do for your maxima?

oil change, inspect fluids, tire rotation every 7500 mi, inspect suspension and brakes.... that is all you need to do up to 30k or so. Then, change tranny fluid and coolant... actually coolant can maybe go up to 60k... need to check the manual

I'm not up to that high a mileage yet but wondering... Do you guys pay those freakin ridiculous charges that service department puts next to each check-up? Do these charges vary per nissan service stations?

Yeah I really want to know where you guys go to get your 6 taken care of?

I get all of my service done at the Nissan dealership down the street from my work. Nothing major done until lately. I have 46K miles on my 2K Max and had the tranny flushed, induction service and had my Tokico struts installed there as well with a 4 wheel alignment. All ran me $385.00. I know most of the guys there at the dealership so they tend to "take care of me". I used to take it to a Nissan specialist about 20 minutes away from work but this is more convenient for me.

i just had the 7500 mile sevice done on my 2k1 max. The price of the service at the dealership where i had it done compared to where i bought it were two different things. They wanted to charge me $75. All this for a tire rotation and a oil change. dont listen to the crap about a 14 point inspection, while i was sitting there i heard the counter guy say they do the 14 point for free for all cars that come in!! So i complained in a big way, cause i had the book from the dealer that i bought it from in my car and thier price was $20 cheaper for the same thing. They tried to give me the runaround about them doing better work, but i countered with "Are you telling me that the 7500 mile service is different from one nissan dealer to the next?" That seemed to set things straight. Then he finally caved and said they would beat any advertised dealer service price. so maybe that is the secret to getting cheaper service, find a local dealer that will advertise thier service prices and take it to the cheapest one, or take it to the one that will beat that price. After all it is a rediculous amount of money for something that takes 20 minutes to do.

Well all I can say is that Maximadave is loved by the dealers.
Lets see: Labor to replace 4 shocks (which I assume he provided) should be about 1/2hr per wheel or about $130.00. I can get a tranny service including pan droped, filter cleaned for $39.95.
An alignment is what $50 tops. This all comes to around $220. So for the convience of letting one shop (Nissan) do the work he paid an extra $165!

Other than for electric diagnostic work I never take my car to a dealer for small stuff. I stopped when I caught a mechanic working on my car and another at the same time and double billing for his time. Most all of them are crooks!!

It was a 4 wheel alignment for $60.00 Full induction service not just fuel injectors cleaned
full transmission flush not just drain and refill
and 4 struts installed that I brought to them and my radiator flushed
$385.00 much less than retail Nissan service dealers normally charge.

They currently have a Transmission Flush special at my local Nissan Dealership for $99.95 with coupon. I was thinking of taking my car next week for tire rotation & brake inspection ( do they fill up your brake fluid if it is low? They checked a box last time 14 pt inspection-needs attention so i was wondering about that.)

Best thing to do is ask to see if they "top off" all fluids.

Re: Maxima Service

i do mine every 7500miles and my is more than 25k too. Basically i just do it at the dealer for a good sum of $19.95 which includes an oil&filter change and some checks that i doubt they do. On top of that i just changed the air-filter and i dont think theres anything else needs changing........i dont plan do keep this car more than 3 years u know.

taiwan???Maxima

Just noticed ur call sign...im in taiwan for business, and cant help to notice there Cefiros(I30s) are much more luxurious than infinitys or maximas. If u frequent taipei like i do, u know theres lots of good "show" parts for these cars.
