six speed swap
six speed swap
Hi guys, Im doing a 6spd swap in my 5.5 gen. First question is how do you wire the clutch pedal sensor.. (device that tells the trannny the clutch is being pushed in) is there plug for the sensor anywhere in an automatic car? Or is there spicing involved.. Any response will be greatly appreciated..
There are no sensors to tell the manual transmission anything. There's a push button type switch behind the pedal arm. That switch keeps the car from cranking unless the clutch is pushed in all the way and pressing the switch. It's similar to the way an automatic wont start unless it's in park.
There's also a push button switch at the top of the clutch pedal which cancels the cruise control if you push in the clutch at all. Neither of those switches tell the transmission anything though.

So in my case what would i have to do to keep my cruise control functionable and so that the car wont crank unless clutch pedal is pushed all the way in? the switch doesnt have an electronic plug that goes into it?
raul i already have a tranny from a 03, and im using a stock flywheel and stock exedy stage 1 clutch... wanna keep it as close to stock as possible.. everything is in the mail every screw, clips etc everything except the floor shifter.... hard to find
It's pretty simple. All you have to do is connect wires to the clutch switch that is activated when the clutch is fully depressed and run them into the engine bay to F152. That's the connector for the park/neutral position switch (which you won't need anymore). Cut the connector off, and connect one wire coming from the switch to the green/orange wire and the other to the black wire. Done.
Now the car will only crank if the clutch pedal is fully depressed. The cruise control function will remain unaffected.
The only thing with this is that the cruise control will remain engaged until the clutch pedal is fully depressed. The way it's designed from the factory in 6MT cars is the system disengages as soon as you press the pedal. That's where the ASCD switch comes in and the wiring is less straightforward. It can be done though. How much would this one bother you? I could live with that personally. I don't know anyone who taps the clutch pedal while cruising..
