Just want a second opinion (codes)

I have 95,000 miles on my 01 se and my engine light came on last night and I pulled the codes today at Advance.

It came up with both a misfire, and a catalyst code.
(P0430 - Catalyst)
(P1320 - misfire)

This scared me quite a bit because of the cat (and I know how ridiculous it is to have them replaced and I've only owned the car 3 months..)

After extensive reading into threads I looked up I've come to the conclusion (I hope I'm correct) that this is just a spark plug/ timing problem that can be fixed this weekend with a tune up that I had already planned.

Has anyone else had this same problem and easily fixed it this way?

-Thanks

I would change your plugs first, reset the codes and see if comes up again. Usually when you get a misfire it should also tell you what cylinder. If it doesnt give you a cylinder code, it's probably a fuel injector.

0201 is not a misfire code. 00-01 are known for their coil issues - if they havent been changed i would do so. plugs and coils. if not those then its probably an injector. with that many miles its possible for the cat to go.

Sorry i forgot to mention, if it gives you a misfire and then tells you which cylinder, then its either a spark plug or coilpack

Usually a fuel injector. But change your plugs first.

So after not having the SES come back on for a couple days after this I checked it again. The second time the cat code was gone and left the misfire code (p1320 sorry for the wrong code posted earlier)

Well after a few days the light stayed off until I was late for work one day and I was going a tad bit over the speed limit on the interstate. When I began to decelerate the light came on again so I was like damn hopefully it's not something else.

I ran the code again today and the only code that came up was the catalyst code..

so first time both misfire and cat, second time just misfire, and now third just cat.

Does this sound screwy to anyone else? Is this a good sign that it could just be a lazy o2 sensor?

I got those exact two codes (P1320 & P0430) when I bought my car 10k miles ago with 132k miles already. It wasn't telling me which cylinder untill they were erased and then came back a week after that. At that time it gave me the cylinder number (P0302 along with P1320, but no P0430). I replaced that coil and the engine was running smooth again (Eventualy I replaced all of them). The only code I've been living with, for the time being, is P0430, which came back. I will be replacing rear pre-cat soon.

P0430 is the code for Bank 2, which is the front bank...or the Front Precat, which is closest to the radiator

The Rear precat is the one attached, to the y pipe and gets replaced with a y-pipe in the 5th gens,
