Speedo and Tach problems

About six months ago, my tach on my 2001 started freaking out. It would go up to 3000-5000rpm and just stick there. A month or so later, my speedo started sticking as well. Usually between 60-70mph. If I tap the gauge cluster, it will sometimes jump to the correct speed or rpm. Any ideas?

Do you have a CEL on? A friend of mine had a problem like that before and it came up with a code saying there was high voltage in a circuit.

Actually my SES light has been on for about three years.

I'm actually taking it to my mechanic tomorrow to find out what's going on. The SES light has been on ever since I had my y-pipe installed. It's throwing a bunch of O2 sensor errors. I'll have him check for the high voltage, too. Thanks!

I've also got the famous rattle problem which I was thinking is the timing belt tensioner, but who knows?
