i have a 97 se auto and have been in the 137 mph range. just curious what you guys have done. AND NO FLMAES about speed. i know it kills. blah blah blah.

Been a hair above 130 (before my paranoia/better judgement kicked in)and was still pushing. Lota people claim the autos will only do 120+/-.

really, i know that an 95-99 se does not have a speed limiter and was thinking the same about the 2000 and up.

and the 2000+ make better power above 5500 rpms than 99's and below. so that is why i was asking about the top speed thing.

my car feels like i am trying to pull a uhaul full of wet newspapers after 130.

ive got a 5th gen 5 speed and ive had it at like 145 pinging off the electronic limiter they say on the site thats its 143 but my spedo was saying 145

Ive been 130 mph more than a few times in my 2000 gxe automatic w/ stock 16's, and I had more acceleration left to use...I always slow down at 130 because thats the fastest Im willing to go..for now!Im not sure why people say the limiter is on 5th gen is at 120 but that might be on maxs w/ 15 in wheels

WRONG. I drive 2k GXE 5 spd w/15" wheels &hubs. I did go slightly over 120, no limiter. One thing I hated is the stability of the car. I had to slow it down before I get killed. My Max is all over the road. My old 93 Grand Prix handled much better on hwys. Some may suggest modifying the suspension, but I dont believe in that, at least for now. I hope to get 16's or 17's one day and see if that will improve the ride.

Well with some bigger rims and tires, springs, fstb, and rsb it will be rock solid 120+

I pushed my '01 max-se up to 146mph after 2 months of driving it, but that was with an advanced ECU that my mechanic who works for nissan wanted me to try. This is with no mods and an automatic trans. I was chasing my cuzin in a turbo 300zx an caught 'em. Not sure what all the mechanic took out other than the ECU but since my original ECU has been back in, I haven't been any faster than 110mph (On purpose)
The older I get…the less(Speed) I go now!

Note: There is an Advanced ECU (Black Market) out their on the market for the '00 & '01 but it's only in a few hands and it comes from Nissan, but their being hush hush about …for some strange reason. I've seen it! but can't buy it because the mechanic told me it was not for sale, justs for testing only!!

Hey …I'm not sure where it came from because you only can go by a persons words. The guy that works on all the maxima's I've owned (3) slipped it in to my new car for about a copule of weeks here in suburban Atlanta. The guy also works for Terry Labonte's winston cup team.

Anyway it really only help the car to pass the stock top speed limit. Other than that there was ruff idling an other things. The car has to be modded in order to benefit the advantages. My car performs and runs much better with the stock.

I wonder what the return policy is…if your not happy with it. If guys are using it, then it's probibly worth looking at.

Got 153 before i had my chip and exhaust. Should be able to tap 155 now. I will let you know as soon as my springs and tires are on.

yo_its_ok- I don't think you know what the hell you are talking about. I have a video and someone else in the car with me when i hit 153 . I go 143 all the time, it's too easy. There is no limiter on the 5 speed max, at least i don't have one. Maybe yours can only do 143, i feel bad for you.

nope..i dont' know why people say 5th gen GXEs have speedlimiter..
well, get some suspension mods..my car felt very good doing 145mph+ on freeway.

Wow, where do you guys find enough space to get up to the 150 area? It seems whenever I am out driving, even a t 4am or what not that i would come flying into somone before i hit that speed.

just drive around at night , if there is traffic just make sure there is a open lane or 2. in my video of my 130+ run while the camera is on my speedo you see my turn signal come on once or twice.

SE models don't have a speed limiter, I have hit 145 many times, 150 once. SE 5spds should I say, autos are limited to 132.

143 indicated and held - she just didn't have anything left. It did not seem bounce against any limiter.

The car was pretty solid, although even a little wind gust makes the car squirm at that speed.

My '97 did 138 indicated, but was all over the road - they could never manage to get that particular car to track straight.

GXE's without the security and comfort package do have a speed limiter on the 5spds, the ones with it do not.

All SE's in 5spds have no limiter, except the autos.

I don't want to get into this with you guys....but I swear to the big man upstairs I have had my max over 145. It was on Interstate 25 south of the colorado/wyoming border. it took a day and a half to get there...and I had a pretty good tailwind...but there wasn't a limiter at 143. I promise. Passing the other cars as fast as they pass the scenery is an experience nobody should be without.

I have hit 145 many times last 3 weekends in fact. Even had my friend with me (he owns a supra mkiv) and wanted to see how fast I could hit before hitting traffic, I had to let off, but we hit it! 150 once. Your crazy if I am gonna take a picture while I am driving at that speed!! hehehe.....I know someone here has a picture above 140, a real one.

if ur talking about GXE's comfort and convenience package...that's not true. i didn't get one when i bought my car, but my car doesn't have a limiter.(unless the speed limter kicks in at 150mph+ which i doubt it).

It is true for the 4th gens that is. Has always been true. It seemed to follow the 5th gens some what. But there has been instances that non-comfort and conv packages had no limiter too, just forgot what they were.

I guess my max is too new for me still, dont got the ***** to take it over 120...mph that is. Don't have that kind of room in rush hour traffic. And fear of getting nailed, whispering in my ear is a little guy still saying "go faster"
