Help pulling ecu codes for free

Those must be specific to your areas. I know the ones in Northern Virginia still allow me to run in from time to time to borrow their OBD II Scanners, as long as I leave them my driver's license as a collateral.
There is only one store near me, that when it's dark out (prolly cuz it's also pretty late), they don't let me borrow it. They say they have to send a person out with me, but they are unable to do so, due to the fact that they only had 2 people working (and needed to have 3. Lady told me it was because they had about 6 scanners stolen in the past few months).
So I just got in my car and drove the Auto Zone right up the street and gave them my license =)

theres a procedure on pulling your codes from the ecu, it is very easy with the 5.5 gens, a little bit more involved with the 5th gens. What year max you have? Search is your best friend.

by the way, here are the instructions for the 5.5gen....http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...tting-ecu.html In step # 3 you can "read" the code. (count it more like it)

You have to go through a certain amount of sequences of pressing the pedal and then pausing and pressing the pedal again. It is just a little confusing though when you're pulling the codes (if done for the first time. You really have to pay attention to how many times the "Service Engine Soon" light blinks)
