What is "flashing the TC"?

I have been experimenting with torque-breaking and have not noticed much differance from a regular launch. The only advantage I can definately identify is removing the time-lag of moving my foot from the brake to the accelerator pedal. If I'm turning traction control off, how can I "flash the TC"? I've heard people referring to this and don't understand.

Also, what's the name of that device that measures acceleration, 1/4 mile times, altitude, etc? Which is the best one to buy/order in Canada?

the quarter mile measuring gadet is called an accelerometer, G-tech makes one so does blitz, hks, apex'i and many other companies.. but i only know blitz and g-tech are stand alone units.. while the otehrs are also turbo timers..

My 2800 stall can flash at 3000...however that usually ends up with a lower 60ft time. My launches are now performed around 1500-2200 depending on track condition and if I am on drag radials. I launched a few times on 3000 flash on drag radials, and the power overcame them killing my 60 ft. If I had dedicated slicks... then a 3000 flash will be great.

Ooooooh, so I must keep TC turned on and make sure I have good traction. I think I get it now. Thanks.

TC is Torque convertor .. its always on

Oookay, so I didn't get it before. I thought TC was traction control. So I should still be turning traction control off I guess. I must not have been doing it correctly so far. Maybe I'm not letting the revs get high enough before taking my foot off the brake. I just need to practice a little more. Thanks again for your help.

TC should always be off when you want a good launch

Ok to get this right, you brake torque to let say 2000rpm. Then on the last yellow, you floor the gas (while still braking) then release the brake. Am I correct on this???

I usually Powerbrake @ 1100 just above idle, and just as lights about to change, foot goes down and brake goes up...
I've launched harder than a Impreza 2.5RS who droppped his clutch @ 6500
So you release the brake while you pedal is to the metal right?
Do you get a lot of wheel spin with this tecnique?

Yes...but if you get it right...you can launch the car, and the car will launch so hard your rpms won't be able to catch up and by the time they do...you are on a hard roll...and potentially beating your opponent
How bad is this for the tranny?

Even drivng your car is bad ...sheeesh...how bad can launching a car be ?

would this be prevented (burning atf) by having a tranny cooler?

a tranny cooler is a good thing to have if you drive hard.

What you couldn't see is alot of close calls. Missing a few details, but yo its ok.

Yeah, you hit the limiter quite a few times.

So what were the outcomes to some of the races?

The runs on the highway was a "group" thing I guess. I layed down one wicked burnout, before the run to the highway. My car was on 5 cylinders from the previous day which I did a highspeed run to the "upper end" of the speedo. So yo its not ok
I replaced all 6 coils, and plugs.
Two gauges sit on the steering column now, so we'll see. One is your A/F meter and the other is Brett's ***** Gauge...both from the now extinct Dark Matter Project.(Tomei gauges)

-Peace
You guys running again on Friday? Bring the 7 psi production monster there and it will be ok.

A/F meter? What's Brett's ***** Gauge? I forgot to ask you this, how would I install the extra O2? I know 4th gens have an extra O2 hole which they can use, but we don't.
