What is "flashing the TC"?
What is "flashing the TC"?
I have been experimenting with torque-breaking and have not noticed much differance from a regular launch. The only advantage I can definately identify is removing the time-lag of moving my foot from the brake to the accelerator pedal. If I'm turning traction control off, how can I "flash the TC"? I've heard people referring to this and don't understand.
Also, what's the name of that device that measures acceleration, 1/4 mile times, altitude, etc? Which is the best one to buy/order in Canada?

correct timing of "power brake" to get your RPMs up at the last second before you launch, which given your TC is in good condition will over-stall to higher rpm locking it up, and giving additional power to launch your car. My 2800 stall can flash at 3000...however that usually ends up with a lower 60ft time. My launches are now performed around 1500-2200 depending on track condition and if I am on drag radials. I launched a few times on 3000 flash on drag radials, and the power overcame them killing my 60 ft. If I had dedicated slicks... then a 3000 flash will be great.

Its basically holding the brake down as hard as you can .. and just before the light goes green, u slam the pedal down as the rpms reach your stall, your foot is off the brake and it will whiz past your stall speed to "flash" at a higher rpm.
TC is Torque convertor .. its always on

I usually Powerbrake @ 1100 just above idle, and just as lights about to change, foot goes down and brake goes up...
I've launched harder than a Impreza 2.5RS who droppped his clutch @ 6500

Do you get a lot of wheel spin with this tecnique?

Yes...but if you get it right...you can launch the car, and the car will launch so hard your rpms won't be able to catch up and by the time they do...you are on a hard roll...and potentially beating your opponent

pretty bad ... you wanna make it quick and precise, otherwise you run the chance of burning ATF and warping rotors if you hold it too long.
Even drivng your car is bad ...sheeesh...how bad can launching a car be ?

What you couldn't see is alot of close calls. Missing a few details, but yo its ok.

Yeah, you hit the limiter quite a few times.

So what were the outcomes to some of the races?

Honestly, I have no idea, we didn't really run around, or I simply missed it sitting in the parking lot on the floor next to Quansungs car trying to figure out what was wrong with his car
The runs on the highway was a "group" thing I guess. I layed down one wicked burnout, before the run to the highway. My car was on 5 cylinders from the previous day which I did a highspeed run to the "upper end" of the speedo. So yo its not ok
I replaced all 6 coils, and plugs.
Two gauges sit on the steering column now, so we'll see. One is your A/F meter and the other is Brett's ***** Gauge...both from the now extinct Dark Matter Project.(Tomei gauges)

A/F meter?
What's Brett's ***** Gauge? I forgot to ask you this, how would I install the extra O2? I know 4th gens have an extra O2 hole which they can use, but we don't.
