Trip Computer question (2002)
How do you guys like the trip computer? When I did the test drive I noticed it has the distance to empty, fuel mileage, and some sort of timer. The DTE looks to work ok, while the fuel mileage didn't really change. Shouldn't it change constantly? The one I drove keep the reading of 14.7L/100km. Then there is a timer reading that read 3:18. Is this the number of hours driven since the last reset? I took the car for about 45 minutes so that read does not indicate anything I done during that time.
What else is on the trip computer, and do you find it accurate/useful?

The trip computer is fine, however the MPG and DTE aren't as accurate as i hoped they would be but at least it gives you an idea of what's there.
Everytime i reset the MPG i still get 20.5 after a few days of driving on the same tank of gas. Doing a manual calculation always yields me far less than that (between 17 - 18.5mpg)
For the curious this is how i calculate it.
1) Fill her up. Reset A or B miles to zero
2) On next fill up, let the pump do it's thing. I use the same exact pump in the same exact station every single time to keep the readings as accurate as possible
3) Calculate amount of gas pumped and the number of miles since last fill-up (miles/gallons)
Voila!
As for that other thing on the trip computer, that's the amount of time spent on the road since last reset. I haven't reset mine as i don't use it but it just goes back to zero after some time.
Just about the only thing i use on the trip computer is the temperature readings.
