clutch spacer required?
clutch spacer required?
ive been dealing with a very soft clutch in my 00 for the last couple of years and i really hate it, i didnt mind the stock clutch but when it needed to be replaced i went with an exedy stage 1 for a lil more power handling, but it was so soft and never grabbed all the way so i picked up a act 2100lb stage 1 for a replacement. and even with that it never felt right, ive had it bled several times and the clutch grabs all the way it seems and doesnt feel like its slipping but it never feels like it grabs that hard either. its much softer than stock, my wife has a 95 with a new stock clutch and my pedal feel is nowhere near as heavy or nice as hers. is actually softer than my stock saturns. that cant be right.
i always keep my old parts and when i looked thru what i had from the clutch jobs i noticed that theres a spacer looking thing, it goes between the flywheel and the block i believe. that was left out, i thought fidanza said to remove it. i dont have any starting issues or anything, but i was wondering if having that 1/4 inch of space could be causeing my soft pedal feel?
i really would like to get this resolved, i can never really push the car cause i cant modulate the clutch with no feel, and its tricky even in normal driving. i just ordered an exedy stage 2 and when that goes in ill have the opprotunity to pull everything apart. hopefully i can get that spacer thing from someone here on the org if i need it and put eveyrthing in and get it rocking when i come home on leave
thanks for any help yall can give

That spacer probably won't have anything to do with your condition. The soft pedal feel is usually related to air in the lines. Even if you have bled it thoroughly, it may still have air in it. And with the 5+ miles of clutch lines lol, it is possible.
thanks , yeah its really funky, ive had the problem with the stock lines and the ss line. and ive had the master and slaves replaced. and had a few different people bleed it. perhaps it just needs to be adjusted. i did proper breakin as well. the first exedy had a bad pp so that didnt help, but ive felt the act in others peoples cars and it felt great my car um not so much.
hopefully with the new clutch it should be overly heavy, that would be nice its a more extreme clutch so it should be.
its sad to see the whole car get ruined by this kinda problem. ill see my car in late march so ill see what i can do then.
thanks for the help.
