Turn Signal- legal or not?

Hello Everyone
In the continuing series of things that brake in my car my back tail light mysteriously cracked and the lights went out (lots of water went in). I've decided to replace the brake light with an OEM one (unless someone has a better idea) but I wanted to replace the turn signal (1157 as mine is a 2001) with one that either blinked bright white or red. Is that legal (white) and what are my choices?

Ive seen red in turn signals on alot of cars, amber and red are the most common.

perfectly legal as long as it isn't any color that's not white amber or red.

The white i was considering is semi-bluish white, or is amber and red my only option?

Check your local state laws, in IL it can be amber or red
