00' EGR removal
00' EGR removal
I can not find much info on this. I would like to just get rid of the whole system.
This is the bolt to block off the manifold

This is the plate

Now i'v done tons of thread searching and have not come up with much information except that leaving the EGR temp. sensor plugged in should keep my SES light off.
I understand a bunch of little hoses attach to the EGR. What do i do with the hoses?
Some help on this? Are there any other things i need to worry about or remove/block off?

The EGR temp sensor feeds back to the ECU, telling it when the EGR system is operating or not. It does this by changing resistance based on the temp of the exhaust gas passing over it.
So, if it is not in the exhaust stream, how could it possibly do that correctly?
Remove all of the vacuum lines for the EGR system, install the exhaust manifold plug and intake manifold block off plate, plug the one or two manifold nipples that are now unused, problem solved.
There we go pmohr a little more information
.
And what leaks occurring overtime does aceofspds speak of? And exactly how is this possible if i'v already removed the vac lines and blocked everything off...
As for leaving the temperature sensor plugged in to not throw the SES light. I read that on the 4th gen forums. A couple members stated that.
I'm still not 100% sure i'm going to go threw with this but it sure as hell beats cleaning the damn thing every so often as i'm turning this car into my daily beater. Looking to get 300k++ miles w/ some minor bolt ons for a little extra powa.

Why would you ever need that out of your car?
