Heads up on the 5th gen - front end noise and clunking and a shakey steering

i know a few people here have been having the same type of problem that i have had with front end noise and clunking and a shakey steering....my car is currently at the shop getting fixed right now. what is was is that both the inner and outer tie rods on both sides have to be replaced. Also the bearing on the drivers side has to be replaced and because the bearing was so bad for so long it destroyed the hub. all these parts are not old as they were replaced 2 or less yrs ago. just writing to give anyone who may have the symptoms stated above to check for those things in the front end. its costing me about $875 to repair it.

I don't know about that but my sway bar end links have worn and caused clunking twice already.

My car makes a small clunking sound in the front but only when I hit large bumps or potholes.. I'm not sure if this is a serious problem atm. How many miles does your car have on it?

Well, that's a different story. Were the items replaced by an insurance company? They should be covered, then.

I had this same problem for about 3 weeks on my 2000 SE.

The clunking would happen on every right turn and sometimes on left turns... It drove me absolutely insane and was embarrassing as hell.

Spent about $834 to take care of the almost identical issues nissanx54 had

Check you motor mounts! I noticed once the strut/springs are changed it will show any worn engine mounts and make it very obvious that there's something going on but it always sounds like it your suspension!

If it really is a small clunking, I'd check all the basic things like suspension and steering components. It may be as small as a rubber isolator on one of your springs gone bad and the end of the spring is just knocking on the perch on the strut.

I doubt a motor mount would cause that, and you'd also feel a lot more vibrations when accelerating or decelerating. But of course, without actually seeing the car or having more details, it is anyone's guess.

i have all these noises and problems but also i have blown motor mounts but im thinkin once those get fixed if theres still clunking and rattling i have nissanx54's problemm. when you say clunking do you mean that potholes, speedbumps, and any irregularities in the road make the front end sound loose?

I replaced both endlinks, and the noise was gone, noise happens when go slow....slow like put the car in D and let it roll. that took care of it

two weekends ago i replaced CV Joint(driver side), noise happens when turn left or right, sort of like...tak tak tak noise, if its really bad like what happened to mine, you would feel it thru the steering wheel. so new CV joint will take care of it, before changing, make sure your boot is ripped tho.

Now, it's making noise, like ...metal stretching noise, i think it's my rotors, i'll find out after i install a new set of rotors.
