6000K D2Rs with bluish tint

So this may sound like a ricer question. Does anyone know where I can find HID D2R bulbs that have the bluish tint to them and not the purple? I am not willing to go back to 4300k or go up to 8000k.

I had the Helios D2Rs from the old GB and they looked great, while keeping the same visibility. Since then, I have seen and/or tried the DDMTuning and operatic/3Bspec bulbs and not been satisifed with their looks. Flame away.

They're from Philips, so they're OEM quality. With reflective housings much of the light passes through the sodium and metal halide salts giving a yellowish tint with 4100K-4300K's. But the optics in high quality projectors create a bluish-white tint. So Philips designed the Ultinons to achieve that same color in reflective housings, but with OEM quality.

i'm actually going to try the MTEC 6000K because they are much cheaper. I loved my ultinons but they got munched when I hit a deer a few month ago. Running OEMs and not liking it too much.

I've seen the Ultinons online and they look great, but is there another option out there? Cheapest I've found them are around $180/pair, which is a steal considering what they are, but in terms of aftermarket HID bulbs, pretty damn expensive.

That's why I want to try MTEC they are almost as popular in Japan as PIAA, made in Japan and 6000k for about 125 a pair. I bought the cheap ebay ones and to tell the truth they didn't even last a year. Turned pink too quick for me. My ultinons were in there about 2 years and they were great.

The MTEC's don't sound too bad. $138 shipped is better than 185+. I might try them as well. I have the DDMTuning/Apexcone bulbs currently and they make me miss my Helios bulbs.

Here is a link to my post in the fog HID kit thread, and the first two pics have my Helios 6K D2Rs installed.

Sorry bout that. I can't believe your not happy with the DDMTuning bulbs. I'm very happy with my 8K fogs from them.

that is where i disagree

Ive run 3 different sets of 6k, and they HAVE ALL BEEN A DIFFERENT COLOR

the first set, were a greenish-white

the 2nd set were too blue and not purplish enough for me

the 3rd set looked EXACTLY OR "SLIGHTLY" darker than my stocks

This is including a set from Operatic, Umnitza, and a pair from ebay

Do you have pics of the 2nd set? That's in comparison, what I want.

I was browsing the HID Planet forums and learned that Philips replaced their Ultinon line with the new Ax6, which is also 6000K and supposedly better than the Ultinons. Of course they're still not DOT/SAE legal but another option to consider for those seeking a bluish-white color output. My only concern is that I'm unsure whether they produce D2R versions, as the D2S might create extra glare in the stock housings. Here's a link:

The phillips are the best choice but expensive as hell. I have operatic's 8k and they are bright white with a bluish tint and lumen is almost as good as stock I dunno not many options left i guess.

Hey Zeead,

I am glad you started this thread, I was about to ask you about HID's, since my OEM's are starting to fade. Can tell when i drive at night.
I drive with them all the time so looking for something quality that can last a while.

Seems like we want the same in color. I don't really like the purple tint at all. More blue tint for me as well.

This thread will give me more info about the color that I want to get and more importantly from where.

Need to get fogs as well...

Jesse,

I haven't ventured to buy any different bulbs yet, but currently have the DDMtuning bulbs. Purplish compared to my old Helios bulbs. I'm not going to spend for the Ultinons since I drive with my headlights on during the day and the lifetime hours get eaten up pretty quick. Still searching for bluish 6000ks while maintaining a fair price.

Just noticed this post, a D2S will have glare issues in where a D2R should be. I searched for a D2R version but couldnt find one.

Thanks for clearing that up. Oh well, those with projector retrofits may consider it. But the perplexing thing is that I always thought the optics of high quality projectors (S2000, TL, TSX, LS430, etc.) created the desirable blue tint with 4300K bulbs. Why would anyone with projectors sacrifice light output to achieve a color effect they already have?

Maybe these are marketed for the lower quality projectors...

I hear you about finding a quality HID set at a fair price.

I drive with my headlights also during the day, easier for people to see me.

I'm pretty sure there are some out there but just haven't found them yet.

Thats 6000K in one of my cars from Extreme Vision (made in Germany) i have a few sets for sale in the 5th Gen Maxima forum. But I got them from http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...DMLighting.com all with 18month-36 month warranty might try your hand there.

The EV bulbs are manufactured by TC.. TC makes all of philips bulbs for them. (this is what my hours of google searching on this topic have resulted in).

See, in the world of HIDs, 10000k would be higher than 8000k. You have less visibility than my stock HIDs and are an obvious target to get pulled over. No thanks, good luck on your first 15.
