Magnetic Drain plug for manual trans?

Anyone know if they make a magnetic drain plug for the manual trans?

If you check the clearances behind where the stock plug is, you might be able to use the Z33 diff drain plug. Those are magnetic, and are only ~1/2" longer than the regular ones. They should be the same thread pitch.

Why do you want a magnetic plug? There's already a magnet in there.

There's a magnet in most every manual trans.

The magnet sits in the half-moon depression just forward of the diff (highlighted in red):

Interesting, didn't know that. I know that rear wheel drive manuals don't have one.

I'd still would like a magnet though that I can inspect, the one inside the trans you really can't take out unless the trans is taken apart, can you?

Correct, you need to remove the rear housing to access that magnet. That one is going to be stronger than pretty much any magnetic drain plug you can put in, so any metal shavings are likely to go to the original magnet.

What do you mean RWD manuals don't have magnets?

Off the top of my head, the FS6R31A and the T56 both have magnets in the case housing.

Maybe some do, I'm still looking for the magnet inside of the trans of a S2000. I could be wrong again but not sure T5's had a magnet.

Good that the T56 has it. Might be buying one.
