HELP!!! car wont start!

I have an 02 SE 6 speed and it wont start. I noticed the past few weeks that it has been crancking over a little longer than normal when i start it. Yesterday i went to go away and it wouldnt start. So i left it sit for a few hours thinking it was flooded. When i went to start it it took a few tries then fired up. Now this morning its started no problem when i left for work. I stopped to get coffee and when i went out it wouldnt start again. The engine cranks over fine so i know its not a battery issue. It just wont fire. The tow truck driver thinks maybe the fuel pump. But when i turn the key i can here the fuel pump run. Are there any common starting issues with my year car? Thanks.

My 00 Maxima was showing the same symptoms last year untill one day when I was getting ready to come home from class. The car just didn't start. A few gentle hits to the starter with an iron rod made some improvement in attempting to start, meaning I could hear it almost starting, but it just didn't. I had to tow it home and replace the starter.

coils? Did you notice a cel the past few weeks? Check your alternator n make sure it's plugged up right? Same thing was happening with a buddy of mine and his alternator plug kept falling off. Fuel pump, plugs.. idk.. Injectors, try to be a little more specific and let us know.

I'd check your alternator wires though. Just from previous experience.

Starters gonna give you a unique "tick" sound though. He's saying it'll crank just wont turn over. I think...

Starter would give you a uniqe "ticking" sound though. He doesn't mention that. And it's cranking just not turning over.. I think?

The engine cranks over fine, it just wont fire. I can hear the fuel pump run when i turn the key on. The engine light is on but i had the codes pulled and it was for the O2 sensor. I dont think an O2 sensor would prevent it from starting. When i got it started last night it ran fine, no issues. Its almost like its not getting fuel or not getting spark. Is there a main control module for the coilpacks that give it spark?

i was in the same situation not too long ago.. if its the same problem (camshaft position sensor).. mine was replaced also but i guess it messed up again.. my code was P0340.. so i bought it from the dealership for $80 bucks and replaced it myself since it was an easy install.. took less than 10 mins

Well my cousin came and found 2 codes for the security system. Turns out the switchblade key i got from ebay has a bad chip in it. Although i find it strange that the chip can go bad. But my spare key works fine.

Hey, guys, i dont really wanna steal this thread from 6SPD02SE but i kinda have an urgent problem as well. V-day, and my car wouldnt start this morning. CEL was on a bout 3 weeks ago, the same cam position sensor issue, but it disappeared. Then it was the ABS light, whihc turns and off occasionaly. the problem, last night i did not leave any light on when i got home, and this morning, when i clutched in neutral, turned the key, nothing happend, not even the ticking sound. So im guessing that it's probably not the starter, but could it be the battery? Also, when i turn the key to the on position, i could only hear the ABS pump making a buzzing noise.

btw: i bought a used 2002 SE 6Spd, 102xxxx miles, carfax showed no prior accidents.

any inputs and advices will be much appreciated, thanks.

I just commented on another thread you asked in. If the car isn't turning over then I woiuld bet it's the clutch cutout switch.

The clutch must be depressed all the way for the started to engage. If teh switch isn't closingthe starter won't engage.

If the motor is turning but not starting I'd place my bets on either the Cam Position Sensor or one of the Crank Position Sensors.

Good Luck.
