You need to evac the old fluid while putting new fluid in but the reservoir can never be dry. It helps to have a machine that does this but if you have a way to evac the old fluid and a small funnel to pour new fluid in you can do it. You also need someone to turn the wheels when the reservoir is topped off. You have to repeat this several times.

Local shop charged about $75 to do mine. Takes 1/2 hour.

U can do the flush in the garage. Raise the front and put on stands. Open the return line (smaller of the lines connected to the reservior) and drain the reservior. Plug the bottom of the reservior with cloth or whatever. Connect the return line to a gallon jug.

Now the fun part, fill the reservior and then put the ignition in ON and do power steering locks left and right. The pushes old fluid from the pump and rack via the return line while fresh fluid from reservior makes it to the pump. Fill reservior to full and repeat the procedure 4-5 time till 2 quarts have come out via the return line.

Now reconnect return line, fill reservior and start engine. Do steering locks 5-10 times both ways and then all air has been burped out. Top it off ... Done.

I use regular DexronIII for my flushes.

This sounds like a great method. I did this to my 02 SE, and it worked great.

Thanks!
