Shopping around for clutches

My clutch is starting to slip so I've been shopping around. I will be getting the fidanza aluminum flywheel but there are two clutches i need to choose between, the Exedy stage 1 @ $410 or the Clutch Master Stage 1 @ $340. I like the price of the CM but is there a reason its cheaper than the Exedy? Are they similar in quality & reliability? I'm somewhat hard on my car and i want something that can handle the abuse. I will also be adding headers, Y-pipe, and exhaust.

I can't say anything about the CM as I have not used it. But I have the exedy stage one with the fidanza and I love it. had a bit of chatter when it was new but it is fine now. The pedal is a little stiffer than it was with OEM.

Some people like the SPEC and I recall also seeing some people happy with the Z33 OEM clutch, which will work with minor modification.

What's so horrible about it? Are you also running a Fidanza flywheel?

Interesting, the last review I saw was good. I'll see if I can pull it up again.

EDIT: okay there have been mixed reviews on the Z33 HR clutch. If anyone is interested in going this route, you might want to do more research or talk to Derrick2k2SE as he seems to have had success with it.

Puppetmaster, how do you like ur vq35hr clutch? IIRC I was reading somewhere that it is comparable to the exedy stage 1??? I just need something that can handle a little bit of abuse. How much did u pay for that clutch?

Edit: my bad I thought the links were about your car until i read the posts so nvm

I found an exedy stage 1 disc for 51 dollars at partsgeek.com... do I need the whole kit?
I haven't really found any good answer for this. their clutch kit from exedy is only $181...

Anyway, what is included in a clutch kit

EDIT: Cheaper one here and free shipping

Man stuff has come down!

Stay away from clutchmasters. I had the stage 1 and hated the thing. I took it out and replaced it with a nismo clutch and pressure plate from the z33 (350z) Direct bolt in. i also am using a fidanza flywheel..
