Hood Vibration 2001 Max

For some reason the search function SUCKS right now and it seems like no matter what you search for, it brings up 1/2 the threads on the first page and none of them have anything to do with what the search was for

Anyway...I have some hood vibration coming from the driver side, and the hood definitely has some play in it (the latch anyway, where you pull up on the front of the hood when its closed, it moves up and down)

Its mainly on the driver side but it is getting really annoying, is there any way to fix this? It seems like the latch and then one rubber bumper on each side is pretty much all it rests on. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

-Ryan

either move your latch down, unscrew the rubber stopper a little or do a little of both. Check the bolts on the hinges also.

I've been battling this same issue for about 1 year now. I've aligned and re-aligned it so many times I gave up. My last attempt, I added a bumper in the middle near the radiator support then two mor bumpers on each side of the hood. Seems to have helped a lot, but every so often I get that damn squeak. Never ending battle.

raising/lowering the rubber pads on either side near the headlights just under the front of the hood helped with my hood rattling

i also have a slightly bent rim, and it seems to add to the hood vibration when the rim is rotated to the front for its 5k interval

I had the same problem and ended up screwing in the rubber stop, then putting some of those peel and stick furniture pads that go on the bottom of a chair leg on top of the rubber stop. It works quite well.

Mine does it too. At highway speeds, it looks like the hood is going to come up. I adjust it and for a while it will be ok, then right back to how it was. I just learned to deal with it.

There is a TSB for it. Let me look.

EDIT: Here it is. http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB02-005.pdf

My hood was doing this when i first bought my car, i ended up buying the headlight "kit" (The rubber that goes on top of the headlights. its in the TSB) from the dealership for about 10/15 bucks or so. put that on and never had a problem since.

Mine did the same. I just backed the rubber bumpers off a little and wrapped some electrical tape around the Ushaped huud latch where it hits the lock mechanism. Haven't had a problem since.

I think in most cases the headlight kits will fix the problem. Im sure other homemade fixes could work too.
