RPM Switch for VI Activation?
RPM Switch for VI Activation?
This is related to the 00-01 3.0 DEK motors. I did a bunch of searching and I got alot of unrelated threads!?
Anyway-my question is two prong. In order to change the VI activation point in the 5th gens usually we have to use an EU or other full blow tuning options ($$$) or rely upon the vaccum assist at 5K+ to of the VI. Unless a VAFC will allow this? Can anyone confirm/deny?
I know the 4th gen guys who install the 00VI don't use the vaccum box and leave it unhooked but use an RPM switch to activate the VI. Is this possible or has it been tried on the 5th gens? I am lookng to move the VI activation point perhaps 1000 rpm lower/sooner so that after the 1st and 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shifts ( on the auto) the RPMs will fall just above the VI activation point. With bolt ons this seems like on the auto it will really speed things up because I am left waiting for it to climb the extra 1000 rpms to VI activation RPM whereas if I could adjust it to come in sooner at like 4500it'd be ...
Of course it would have to be dyno'd to ensure no loss of HP by moving it but has this been done?
