Strange mechanical beeping noise when turning off car

For the past few days, whenever I've been driving and turn the car off, there would be a beeping noise coming from under the hood. It sounds mechanical, like the motor of power seats but it quickly beeps 5-7 times in about 2 seconds. I first only noticed it when turning the car off, but now after the car has warmed up, i notice it on starting the car, turning it off, and now after braking just before coming to a complete stop. I have no codes or recent problems and everything else about the car is normal. what could this noise be?

I bet its the electronic mounts. From what I'ver read they make a buzzing noise when the car is turned off before they go bad. You can unplug them and see if the noise goes away, them you'll have the answer. (not sure exactly where the plug is however, but I believe we have two electronic mounts)

the plug is about a foot long, if you find the torque mount position and follow the cable out of it you will see the plug. Probably tie wrapped to the crossmember.

I don't think it is the mounts. They make a whirring sound (like a power antenna trying to go down); it is definitely not a beep. Although the times that you described it happening are consistent with failed motor mounts.

The connectors are actually on top of the engine IIRC. I will take a picture tomorrow and post for your convenience.

ok thanks for your help, i'll try unplugging them when i get back home on friday. so if it is the motor mounts causing the whirring noise does that mean they need to be replaced or can i just unplug them? I'm short on cash and dont really need another thing to be repaired.

Did you leave your watch in the engine compartment?

I would think if it is the mounts, they would be beeping for a reason. Sure, you could unplug them, but replacing them would probably be the best idea.
