How to get started with the code searches?

Engine light on, car runs sluggish when idle. Changed all the plugs but engine light is still on, car has 142k and it's a 02.

I want to learn how to find the code errors and fix them.

Where to begin? Do I go to Autozone first?

if you have a SES light on take it to an auto zone or an equivalent and they can pull the codes for you and then either they can tell you but their descriptions arent always correct or look them up here or several other places on the org

or download the FSM and the codes are in that plus diagnostics for that code, you can grab that for free here

I had purchased a code reader from autozone for about $42. It came with a CD that you could type the code into and it'll give you a pretty detailed description. You could also just have autozone read the for you. I would also recommend a Haynes Manual it has tons of information. It is definitly worth the money (I think its like $10 bucks).

Oh, I found it, says a Mass Airflow sensor and a loose hose near a fuel line.

Sorry guys, at times I converse with myself which isn't a healthy thing to do.
