Eh, not quite parallel, but it does line up. It would probably look better on the car.

I am wanting to do one soon as well. My concern is that will it be noticable on a black car? My current hood is messed up from bugs and rock chips from these Florida toll roads.

Does anyone know the hood weights of the OEM hood and the VIS CF (OE style)?

From what I have seen black CF on a black car is hardly noticable unless you look really close or the hood is clean and the rest of your car is filthy

350 is a good price the most I would spend on just a visual mod

You're welcome. It's not my car. It was my boy nax's other car before it was stolen and stripped, it also had a carbon fiber trunk and spoiler.

+1, but I suspect the mod is primarily for visual enhancement, not significant weight loss.

True. My hood is a mess. There are paint chips in it like crazy and It would probably cost about the same price to paint it as it would to buy a CF hood. I would not paint the CF hood but I wouldn't care if it didn't stand out on my black car either.

Silver CF hoods are offered. Although I've not seen a pic of one on a black Max.

+1, I think the stealthy look of black CF on black would be nice. Not so much of a "look at me" look.

it "looks" good if you want to spend a little for it. Doesn't add any function but I'm sure it's lighter then stock... Not by alot by my guess, obviously don't have the numbers

Edit with useful pic:

Old picture before hood pins or front lip, and yes, the paint missing on bumper was fixed.

Thank you. I enjoy the looks and weight loss.

Advice that I posted in another CF hood thread, whichever hood you get, invest in several coats of clearcoat and hood pins/latches. One is insurance for the looks of your CF hood, and the other is for the looks of your face.

Looks good on the Max. I had a VIS one on my Jetta a while back and it was pretty cool. Decided to get rid of it though... bought it for $100 bucks of a dude who paid $40 for it and was thrilled to make $60 in a day... sold it 2 days later for $375 I prefer the money to the hood lol

I do have locking hood latches made by Aerocatch, but I wouldnt suggest locking them due to hearing horror stories about keys breaking. The hood pins/latches aren't really meant for that type of security, more for the wind from driving pushing your hood into your windshield.

Weight difference is very minimal. Our OEM hood is surprisingly light as is. Was kinda disappointed as I lifted my OEM on my own and could hardly notice the difference. Fittiment is good however you may need to play with the latch. I noticed with other including mine that over time you get a bit of lift on the side but nothing big.

I just want to let all of you know that I had my CF hood cleared before I put it on. I have had it 4 years now and from the rock chips it is now starting to get mosture under the clear. It looks white on all the edges and its starting to fall apart. I called a local shop and they are going to sand it down and reclear it for me at the tune of $350. The problem is now I have to buy a new one because a rock flicked up from a truck at 70mph and craked it in a couple of spots. Its not that noticalbe but now I have to buy a new one. I just wanted to let you know to keep your stock hood just incase. Dont sell it because I did and now I'm regreting it.
