Different front/back Tire size?

Can I run size 225/50/17s in the front and keep my 235/50/17s in the back? Or the other way around).

I want to make a transition back to stock size (225/50/17 for 2001 AE) and I only need to replace one pair of the 235s. 235s are brutally expensive.

** Has anyone had this trigger the abs light for example?

BTW, this is an interesting link to tire sizing you may or may not have seen: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

A lot of people run staggerd setups. I wouldnt see your situation being an issue. You could always just call a tire place and ask.

abs light staggered tire sizes

But will diff tire sizes in front and rear set off the abs light or cause any other issues? Anyone?

Yea but he's merging back to a stock setup. He just doesnt want to spend the money all at once. I do agree some what though, I cant really see the point in fwd car having larger tires in the rear.

Just a question.... why would one put any other size tire on the car other than the stock size, are there any advantages? any disadvantages? just for looks? the reason why i'm asking is that my car has 235/50/17 all the way around, the tires were on there when i bought the car, its time for me to get new tires now and discovered the stock size is 225/50/17. should I stick with stock or does it matter?
