Muffler/B-Pipe Flange

New here, great site! I recently replaced a muffler on my wifes 01 maxima. Actually got a slightly used oem one, the person installed a performance exhaust and chopped the oem one just after flange on the b-pipe side. Since the flange on my wife's was destroyed, this was a good swap. So I chopped the old, expanded the new and clamped it in place.

Problem I'm having is the crush gasket isn't sealing up. It seems the flange isn't completely flush with each other so its leaking slightly. Anyone have the same issue? Any recommendation like maybe another type of gasket that would work? That ring gasket is so tiny!

Thanks in advance!

the clamp isn't leaking, its leaking where the flange is. It just seems the ring gasket isn't thick enugh to seal the gap and I got the part from nissan.

Is the gap equal all around? Could you throw a regular fabric gasket in there in addition or in place of the ring one? I always keep a couple of these NAPA ones handy.

I think I'm going to have to. I actually went to autozone to see if they had a different ring gasket and the part they gave me was much thicker but a little larger diameter so it probably not the right part. But it did do the trick, however I don't think it will last. Maybe I'll combo the two.

Napa offers a couple of these. I think one I have is the EXH31540. Had to expand the bolt holes a little to make it fit.
