thinking about headlight mods (clear, paint, LED)

so i want to paint my headlight housings black to match, clear the amber and put an audi style LED strip. i wanna do it all at once cuse im already a lil nervous to put 300 dollar headlights in an oven haha.

what do i get at home depot for the clearing?
would this be good for the LED strip http://cgi.ebay.com/Waterproof-Flexible-Car-24-LED-Strip-Bulb-Light-White_W0QQitemZ190294690386QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_ Electronics_Parts_Accessories?hash=item19029469038 6&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1240|66%3A2| 65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

same here man, I have been wanting to AE my 2001 housings but worried that something is gonna go wrong...i guess that would give me an excuse to get 02-03 projectors lol

Also, I thought of attempting the LED audi strip but 'm gonna wait till I see pics from someone else first

If you don't want to do the oven you can use a heat gun, I have used the oven on 200 for 10min method 3 times on my lights and no problems as long as you pay attention and don't leave them in for any longer than 12mins tops and obviously don't leave any bulbs in the housing.

If you search around there a many threads that prove the 02-03 Ebay projectors are trash. Also there are a couple org member who have successfully add Led strips to there lights no problem.

Yes....I have them..it's very easy to do. Took me a couple hours to do halos, and leds on both headlights, it took 2 seconds to clear the lens (just popped it out and added a switchback). See my sig for a picture in the dark

If you need help or want me to do them for you PM me.

You can , just find one at home depot (a clear reflector) then if its to big then just trim it down and put it in there (you may need to use a adhesive to keep it there). I just left mine out and am using a switchback LED that is normally white, but when I blink it goes to amber.

Lol, its not a cheap ricer honda mod..but just like them its an led. All you do is add a resistor to the circuit and it keeps it from blinking like a tard. That would fix all the fast blinking ones you see

I'm not sure about the quality of that particular LED strip but here's a good alternative:

its really easy to do but there is a diy ae headlight mod thread in the 5th gen section its real straight forward id post it but my comp is being lame today. all u have to do is take out the 2 bolts holding the min then theres a prong with a clip holding it in in the blinker side with some umph pull it out then remove the bulbs and metal screws on the headlights. put them on a cookie sheat on a towel 200 degrees for 10 min the adheasive will loosen up enuff so u can carefully take it apart and seperate the lense and chrome piece to paint. just make sure its hi temp paint.and basically reverse the steps just be carefull the adhesive will remove the paint after u get them painted and dried u can bake them again same time and temp. im planning on doing this myself and addding the led strip.

Yea I just had my headlights shipped out to them to get some R8-style LED's installed. They are a little on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for and I can also attest to the quality of their craftsmanship.
