Starting issue

Okay so I have done a lot of trial and error with this issue. Yet can't figure it out.. Checked battery, starter, fuel pump, and alternator. None of those were the issue... So anyways when I start my car it either chokes or takes 2 seconds to kick over. I have no codes, the only thing i'm thinking is my vacuum leak is causing this. What do you guys think? I really need to figure this out. Any help is greatly appreciated..

It cranks for 2 secs before starting?

Fuel pump may be going out.

A video of exactly what your car is doing when you try to start would really help.

Same symptoms. I'm at 236kms with original pump. If I just changed the filter would that help?

If your are going to change the fuel pump, you might as well change the fuel filter too. Call DaveB and order the fuel filter and O ring. Fuel pump is $100 (Denso product) and fuel filter + ring is about (call DaveB) $26 w/shipping.

I honestly think it could be the starter or fuel pump. I already replaced my fuel filter in the pump. Anyway to get my pump checked? The starter I put it was one from auto zone and was refurb, so made me believe it was gonna crap out sooner or later. Now if i'm not mistaken when your fuel pump is going out doesn't your car like pull and jump when driving? At least from other cars this has been the case. To the user that said does it take 2 seconds or more to start.. YES

Take 2 wires and and connect both ends into where the socket is for the fuel pump. Take one end of the wire to a + terminal of your battery and the other wire's end to the - terminal of your battery. Your fuel pump should vibrate or something if it works ...

The AutoZone starters are great! Unfortunately the great one is 1 out of 4. Other 3 are total and complete crap. My 96 max starts flawlessly since i put the fourth starter in (about 3 years back).

I have been having these starting issues for a long time, too. I cannot figure out what it is. At times, it will take 2 or 3 times to kick over. The car will crank, but won't start on the first time. I changed out the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, replaced starter, cleaned throttle, installed new MAF, changed 2 O2 sensors. I believe it's a fuel issue or vac leak, but cannot find out what's causing this. Funny thing, no codes. When I get time, I am going to check the fuel injectors and see how they are.

i would try the fuel filter if u checked the others. my max did that for a while found the starter was going since ive changed it i have installed an intake as well now it does it once in a while due to a vac leak so maybe u got a dirty fuel filter or vac leak. have u noticed a power loss?

I have noticed a power loss, I do have a vac leak, but can't seem to find where it is. I have changed my fuel filter which that was fun, checked alternator, battery, starter and just about everything and all of that was good. Sparks are new, coils are not throwing any codes. So my guess would be fuel pump or vac leak. Still I know that if the fuel pump is faulty it would make the car jump and hesistate during driving, which it does not do that.

So any direction anyone could point me in? I checked coils, alternator, battery, and car seems to run just fine when on the road except for the power loss. So my last ditch effort sounds like a vaccum leak could be causing this. I really can't seem to figure it out, but its getting worse as time goes. It's now taking longer to start
