Blower motor

I have an 02 with the auto climate control. The panel lights up but the blower motor does nothing. I checked the fuses both under the steering and in the engine bay and are fine. If it is a bad blower motor, would it be worth my while to exchange it or take it in. If I do it. would it be pretty easy going. I have changed out motors in the past but to cars in the early 90's. Thanks, Ed.

It might be blower motor resistant.

The blower motor is easy to change, take out the glove box and its right there. The "resistant" (resistor) is not on auto climate control cars, you have a Darling driver transistor. Either way, this is not the problem because the fan's high speed does not go through the resistor or transistor. Pull the connector off of the fan and check the wires in the wire harness connector for voltage.

If you have voltage, the motor probably is bad but there is always a chance that junk has gotten in the air duck and is jamming the blower motor.

Dennis,

Actually now that you mention it, four days ago, I did hear either leaves or something in the blower since it did make some type of noise when I turned it on. Thanks for the information. Ed.

Well, I finally got a motor off of Ebay. I replaced it and it did not work. I borrowed one of those portable power jump starter and both motor works. Now what? The lights on the climate control goes on but it appears that no power goes to the motor. Thanks, Ed.

Did you check it with a multimeter to verify it's getting power or not?

Do I check this with the car on or off? Thanks, Ed.

Well I would imagine if it were to be receiving power, you would have to have the fan set to any 'on' position. Check the HA section of the FSM for your year. It should have a diagnosis step-by-step. I only have it for the 01 right now.
