Got killed by a 328i

So me and two other friends are always talking about racing. One with a 95 accord with a prelude engine in it. And a 2000 328i. And me with my 2k1ae. We pull up to a light with three lanes. I'm really new with racing my maxima so i didnt know how to torque brake that good, so i just put it in 1st and floored it. The 328 took off like a motha with absolutly no wheel spin, but then again he has tc. My car had so much wheel spin even i couldnt believe it. We slowed down at about 90 with the whole time the 328 about a full car length ahead of me. I thought my car would at least catch up to him in the higher rpm's but it didnt do no good. I was shifting at about 6500 rpm's.

you mean tc=torque converter
or TCS as traction control
cuz you have both...also the TCS but its better to flash it off

I have a modded 5spd and I smoked a newer 328 the other day from 140-205km/hr. We had even starts and I was at least 3-4 cars ahead. We had two more runs from about 120+. The guy was a loser as soon as we both punched it in third gear I would pull a car on him right away (twice) and he would let off shortly after for some reason. After that he wouldn't even pull beside. I even slowed down to 100! Btw his lights looked good in my auto dim mirror!

anywayz...it's a close race for an auto...with 5speed, u still fight hard for the win against the 328i...but then, it's always the drivers in this kind of close race that determine who wins and loses.

Did you have a full tank of gas??
Remember weight has a lot to do with whether you win or lose against a car that you should be able to handle!!
Not gonna cut you any slack but go giddem again!!
If it was an M5 then I would have mercy on you

Yeah sorry for the mixup. He had traction control, I dont. He had me from the launch. He had no wheelspin, he just took off. I have a automatic and put it in first so i could control the gears. I was changin gears as it was approaching the redline. When i slammed on the gas I burned major rubber. Anyways we'll be definatly doing it again in the near future. Anyone wanna give some advice so I can stick it to this bimmer? And oh yeah I did have a full tank of gas.

for the launch:

stick it in 1st
hold in brake hard
feather gas to ~1200 - 1500 rpm
mash gas pedal
let go of brake split second later
shift to 2nd at 6000 rpm
shift to 3rd at 6200 rpm
etc... etc.....

I wasn't trying to be funny. I was being sarcastic. I know you don't like hearing it, but street racing could get you killed and is nothing to brag about.

thats what i was going to say. Anyways the bimmer had his traction control on. I dont even have it. When we took off he had no wheel spin, he just took off, I on the otherhand had major wheel spin. Next time we'll go i'll make sure he turns that junk off. Plus I drove his car, its not no dinky little bimmer, that thing can handle like a motha, and accelerate like a motha too.

You shouldnt have traction control on when you race. It robs power from the launch. By the way, when I drove a 328i, torque braking with traction control off on a good road, No wheel spin.

if you're referring to the 328, its a straight-6 not a 4cyl...

and had the above guy that beat a 328 run a 330i, you would have had your *** handed to you... 330i = old M3 in E46 body... the old M3 was faster than a VQ30 maxima
now a VQ35 maxima would prolly be a different story

here we go again.. full tank of gas? how about, was your car washed? or were your wheels polished?

the guy lost.. plain and simple bringing great shame to the maxima board. i would't be surprised if he never shows his face here again.

i'm just messin' around i raced a 323 once and DAMN that thing was fast. it didn't beat me, but it impressed me. and a m5? yeah... we would have let that one slide!

kafene.

sure you can... all of them except for the 330i, the 330xi or the M3

330i 5-speed = 240hp and 3000lb curb weight... trust me, you won't beat a 5-speed if you're stock...

the 330xi is just the 330 with AWD, and you definitely don't have a chance on that one from a light (if its available in 5-speed)

and of course we know how the M3 is 3000lb curb weight with 333hp

and old 5 series are nothing to brag about... the new 540i, ESPECIALLY the 5-speeds are pretty damn fast... i had my *** handed to me by one in my SC300 5-speed

Sorry, you have your numbers all wrong. 330i is 225hp, 3200-3300lbs. Go find the other numbers, too lazy, they are all around that curb weight though.
