2002 gas mileage and more
The car is very fun to drive, and I have had a few looks. A few things that I noticed:
- the gas mileage might not be very good. Adding what is on my odometer, and the dte number I get 500km. On my 99SE I can get 600km
on a tank.
- After washing the car, I drive around for a while. 3 hours later after I roll the windows down and up again, the window is all wet. That means the rubber/fury piece at the bottom of the window traps water. Understand what I am saying?
- The seat belt buckle rubs against the seats. On my 99 the buckle do
not touch the seat. This could cause excess wear.
- Door do not shut easily. I have had at least 4 people who had to shut the door twice. It does make a nice sound but the doors are tight.
- HID when I turn the lights on. Driving lights or high beam is the
regular non-HID lights. Can I put in PIAA bulbs, or what kind of
bulbs are used for the high beam?

>So far on my 2k2 I've gotten 13.8 and 17.5 mi/gal (calculated with the pump # and odometer).... I assume it gets better when the engine breaks in.
>The doors definelty need a slam except for the drivers door so I don't mind.
>The driving lights can be switched - with 194 wedge bulbs....
I've got polarg M4s in them right now, but PIAA also makes replacement bulbs in super plasma, etc. for that really WHITE look.

I've said it once and i'll say it again, that DTE/MPG computer doesn't work very well (e.g. not very accurate).
I'm not sure about you guys but i've gone from bad to worse on my MPG driving all city (then again, a lot of factors may come into play) I just filled up yesterday and i've gone from my usual 18.5mpg to 16.3mpg.
As for the doors, i experienced that as well. But i would tend to think that it's a good thing (E.g. when closing the door, air inside compresses... if you need more energy to close the door that means the cabin is quite airtight)

same here, my MPG usually says like 27 or higher and i seriously doubt i'm getting anything close to that

dammit, I STILL haven't broken 17 mpg.
The most I've gotten out of a full tank has been about 240-250 miles...?!?!?!
I figure that if it doesn't get any better, I'll have to talk to the service people....
btw- I've been trying to drive EXTREMELY conservatively, yet I can't break 16.9-17 mpg...

majestic blue
Mine reads about 11.7L/100km. Anyone good at math to translate that to mph?
What color is yours, and do you wax yours regularly?
Mine is majestic blue and it is quite different than black. My old 99
SE shined nicely after Zaino. The color is flat while the blue has sparkles (it that what the call metallic?). I don't think it has the ability to shine like black. Personally I think the white is a very eye catcing color, and makes the car look bigger from the outside. The Grey lustre is VERY nice with the Altezza style lights. I like my blue but it doesnt seem to have the ability to shine like the black or grey.
Anyone else have Majestic Blue? What do you use for wax? What can be done to make the high beam brighter? Do you plan to stick with the stock fog lights?

I picked up my 6spd max yesterday and since then I've gone 110 miles, the little computer say's I am averaging 23.5 MPG. My driving has consisted of 1/2 city and 1/2 back roads. So far I am very pleased with how well it is, that would be great if it get's even better!

I have a 2002 Majestic Blue Max SE
I use Zymol. The blue wax brings out the "sparkles" in my paint.hehehe I have heard a lot of people mention Zaino where do you get it from? I haven't seen any here in VA. I think I will keep my foglights factory because with my last car the aftermarket bulbs blew out every 2 weeks. Plus the aftermarket bulbs just don't seem brighter than the factory fog bulbs. I just installed the 20 AE door sills this week took about 10 minutes and they look good with the charcoal leather enterior. i would like a FSTB if any body stubles across one.

11.7L divided by 4.54L per imp. gal. = 2.58 gal. to go 100km (which is 62.13 miles) therefore your MPG per the computer is 24.5
I've been getting between around 9.5L/100km. which translates to 29.7 MPG. Haven't done a traditional check of gas mileage so I can't comment on the validity of the Nissan computer calculations.

I always thought 1 gal = 4.0L and 3.8L respective for imperial and the other measure.
I was getting 11.7 and higher at first, but now that I am driving a bit harder it actually decreased to mid 10.

Fuel mileage spreadsheet
I have created a rather simple spreadsheet to track my fuel use and to track bills related to the car.
What I do:
1) within my spreadsheet, I created a very simple template that I print to an envelope. When I fill the car up, I write down the date, km driven and the number of liters used to fill the tank and place the receipt in the envelope.
2) after I fill up the chart on the envelope, I bring the envelope in and punch in the data.
3) the spreadsheet handles the calculations and even puts the data into chart form.
I've modified my spreadsheet to calculate/display miles per US (4 litres per US gallon) as well as Imperial gallon (4.5 litres per Imp. gallon). Attached is a print screen of the data.
If anyone is interested in this spreadsheet for their own use, PM me and I will send it to you (whenever I am able to read my PM's). It's only about ~29k and done in Excel '97

on the door thing.. crack a window, close the door. Is it still hard to shut? if yes, then it should be realigned before the striker wears out the lock mechanism. If not, then it just means your door seals work very well (as mentioned before on this thread). My car is simply the seals. They all shut like a bank vault if a window is open and tend to need alittle more force with all windows up.

On my first significant journey with my new max, the trip computer told me I was getting 37 MPG!!!!
I was on 95 going between 60 and 70 MPH for a bit over an hour. That 6th gear really makes a difference. I'm thinking that once I break her in, she'll be getting somewhere between 40 and 45.

I just got gas and calculated my fuel economy on my new 6spd max which only has 250 miles on it. I got 20.8 MPG, my trip computer said I was averaging 23.3 MPG. I may not of had a 100% full tank of gas when I picked my car up Wednesday so my #'s may be lower then they should.

I have a 2K2 6spd with 650 miles on it, I've only refilled a few times so far. That said, I reset my Trip Computer each time I refill, I also reset the AVG MPG computer and manually calculate MPG based on mileage and gallons to fill the tank. Following this dual tracking procedure it appears that the 2K2 trip computer is accurate to within .5 MPG. As a result of my preliminary experience I have started to trust the AVG MPG computer more. I particularly like that I see the AVG MPG values drop in city driving and then creep up on highway driving. Once, as part of an attempt to obtain an instantaneous MPG value, I reset the AVG MPG computer while cruising on the highway and saw 28MPG at around 60 MPH in 6th gear.
In mostly stop and go city style driving I seem to get around 16-17 MPG. On the highway I would estimate low to mid twenties depending upon speed. Nevetheless, the verdict is still out on all of these figures since the engine and transmission are still breaking in and since I have not tracked the values long enough to have a truly conclusive result.

I have a 2k2SE auto and lately my full tank of gas only last 260 miles. This is down 40 miles from when I first had the car 3 mos. ago. Every time I fill up my tank the DTE would read 400 miles. I never get close to it though. It's also showing that it's doing 24mpg, which I know it's not. I'm just glad that gas prices have gone down a little.

I did say "imp. gal." meaning of course imperial gallon as opposed to US gallon which is smaller, so yes IF you're in Canada there are 4.54L in a gallon.
Interesting to see that driving harder is actually getting you BETTER gas mileage since the "mid 10" you are referring to is the number of litres of gas it takes to go 62.13 miles and going the same distance with fewer litres means you're getting better gas mileage.
Man I wish there was a way to convert the Canadian computers from L/100km to MPG.

Re: 2002 gas mileage and more
Don't have my 6 spd yet, but on my 2k 5 spd Maxima SE I typically get 550km to 600 km a tank, which I figured out to mean I was getting 9.25 to 9.5 L/100 km. I think this translates roughly to 30 MPG, which I think is awesome considering the size of the engine and the power from it.
A few things which may be impacting your fuel economy are:
1) Your car is brand new. Once the engine and other powertrain components are broken-in the powertrain losses will go down as friction is reduced.
2) What octane fuel are you running. Anything less than 91 potentially impact your fuel econonmy.

02 Mileage
I've now got 1500 miles on my 02GLE. The first 700 miles I couldn't get over 17 mpg. At 700 mi I took it on a short road trip and got 22.19 mpg. Now I'm getting 17+ in town, and 23 highway.
I assume it will get better as I put more miles on it. One) because the engine will be more broken in, and Two) because I'll quit romping on the gas all the time!
