front hood issue...

I noticed that the front hood of my car doesn't close tightly...is this normal? I mean -- while the hood is closed -- try using your palm and exert some pressure on the hood near the headlight area..feels like spring at work....

also, at speed over 100 mph the hood seems to vibrate a little.
anyone experience this (btw, I went to the nissan dealer and it seems that all the max at the lots are like what I described. maybe they are designed this way...hmmm)
thanks.

I am pretty sure that you can push down on the hood and it will move, I guess it is supposed to do that.

My hood vibrates a almost any speed over 40 mph. It is somewhat annoying but seems secure and safe. At anything over 90 mph, I don't look at the hood.

I've the same problem (hood vibration). I did turn the rubber stoppers. It helped a bit, but not that much. I suspect aerodynamic problem (I also have a Nissan hood protector installed). I dont know if the protector is the main cause of the problem or not.

Good luck!

My hood seems to vibrate towards the middle not the front. But I will try the stopper adjustment. Thanks.

I'm glad I was not the only one. My hood rattles when I go over bumps. It's quite annoying. Adjusting the rubber stopper helped a little. But then the problem is still there. I had this problem before and I brought it to Nissan and they adjusted it for a fee. It's adjustment and it's not covered under warranty. What I found rattling is the latch itself is not totally locked down by the latch from the car. The latch diameter on the hood is slowly wearing down due to wear and tear. Thicken the latch up woudl minimize the rattling/vibration. Another fix would be to lower the latch from the car. There's 3 screws to loosen, and then you can raise or lower the latch itself. But even lowering it all the way down, after the hood is closed, I can still feel the rattling applying some pressure to the hood. But I find that normal for all Nissan. I went to a car show and pressured on the hood of the Maxima's, Altimas, and I35s and the Q45. All the hood rattles/vibrate a bit.

I noticed this the first time I washed my car. Seemed like a lot of play in the latching of the hood. The next time I went in for service I walked up and down the row of Maximas and tested all the hoods...I'd say about 12 out of 16 Max's had some play in their hood. These were all 2K Max's btw.

I asked the SM about it and he said they'd look at it. When I got the car back they said the adjusted the hood latch and didn't charge me a dime.

I tried to adjust it with the rubber stoppers but in order to get my hood tight, it was out of line with fenders etc. The service guys did a good job as everything lines up and my hood is nice and tight now One of the very few good things I can say about my experiences with Nissan.
