killed a taurus 2nite

i was just cruisin at around 11 and i saw a white 95-97 (the weird lookin body style, round headlights and just plain oogly) taurus rollin in the slow lane. (4 lane highway going through downtown Dillon) we were basically out of town when i pulled up beside him and started making the car jump forward and then slow back to beside him.....well he wouldnt race for anything, so i continued on my way and passed him at normal speeds, probly 45-50. i had passed him a long way back and wasnt expecting him to race because if he wanted to he would have when i was beside him.....i look over and he just flies by me outta nowhere....i just stepped on it and had to run him down...we stayed even for a second or two after i finnally caught up to him and got up to speed with him, but when we hit about 80 i pulled on him bad, then at about 100 when we slowed i had him by a car length....the moral of this story is: i cant stand peeps that wont race you straight up, they wait til you pass em and then fly by you, leaving you to catch up to them and still whip their ***. that same thing happened the night before when i was messin with a v6 mustang, i had passed him by a long way and then he flys up past me and i had to run him down, but right after he passed me he slowed and wouldnt straight up race me....i hate it when peeps do that. who else hear has been "beatin" by someone that does that junk? what i mean by "beaten" is that they think they have straight up won against you, but they never actually raced you, they just drop back and gain about 20mph on you then blow your doors off. maybe im the only one peeps ever do that to, i dunno, but anyway.

Dude, why are you trying to race a Taurus? Unless its a SHO, they are all slow pieces of ****. Its just like the other day. A Toyota Tundra and the new Kia minivan were racing off of the line. I followed them, but had to shift at 3500 rpms to avoid rear-ending that Kia crapper. and then, I shot right past them. I'm not going to post something like that as a kill since the dude never had a chance.

I wasnt trying to race him, i was just messing with him....after i passed (doing speed limit of 45) and got a pretty good distance away form him, he blew my doors off! i wasnt gonna let him do that and get away with it......i didnt post this as a kill either, i posted this because of what i said in the last part of that email, about passing somebody and they fly by you when they could have given you a fair race if they really wanted it bad enough to fly by after you already gave them the chance to race you. i dont go around racing tauruses, i know how slow they are, my ex girlfriend had one and it sucked ***. around here though, if you get challenged you better take it, kuz i dont get many challenges where im from. and it seems like everybody here drives either a taurus, or a ragged out rust bucket....but anyway

I've raced a 1996 SHO taurus with dual pipes in the back, you gotta love that rumble of the 32V V8, It was a straight up race, even at a light, I hear him rev his monster V8 at me and i gasped for air, and pulled my shifter down to 1, glance over at the gauges, and brake torque it to 1500 and see that i only had 1500 miles on the engine, good thing it was broken in, right when the light turned green i let off the brake and we're off, 0-45 mph im about 1 car ahead, 45-70 mph I see him in my rear view, 70-90 2 cars back flashing his high beams for me to slow down, and then he gains control by catching speed while i brake and he takes off , and im like HELL NO!, and i floor it to redline by popping the gear back down to 3rd, and soon enough at 90 im side by side and he gives me a thumbs up and a nod and I slam it down hard, and i hear his V8 climbing to redline also, I end up walking him 2 cars to 100 mph.
2 cars not bad.... but 3.5L V6 stock vs. V8 with at least an exhaust ?, come on. rack one up for the 2k2 automagic

A race against the older V6 SHOs with the Yamaha engine would be good

Sorry, I just thought that was funny since your engine has more displacement than the V8 SHO.

Those "Duratec" 24-valve V6 Taurus's are seriously weak, if that's what you were racing. I was able to take one in my Accord V6 without even really trying. They have absolutely zero low-end power it seems.

what about high end?, a guy in my math class always talk **** how fast his tarus with "something tec" is first he said "v-tec" then he said "could be an honda engine, u know ford buy parts of others". teacher was just staring @ me laughing, then he said he beat another **** talker that says his 93 civic hb almost tied a 99 si so he thinks he'll totally destory my maxima, too bad I never see him after school.

What a moron.

Dura"tec" does not equal VTEC

The "Duratec" was Ford's sorry attempt at a modern DOHC engine. The engine is actually the old "Vulcan" (pushrod OHV, 150HP) block that's still used today, just with a Mazda-designed DOHC 24-valve head. That engine sucks. ZERO low-end. Even people that have reviewed the car said that "they can't believe this engine actually has 200HP"

When I raced one (and yes, this guy WAS racing me), I pulled so bad on him at the start that I backed off because I thought he wasn't racing me. But I heard his engine winding up slowly to redline and could tell he was on it hard so I got on it again. Pulled 3-4 cars on the start, backed off, and then stayed about 2 cars ahead. We were more even once he got up into the high-end, but the low-end was dead, and I maintained my lead the whole time, including backing off. I'm not sure where the car dyno's at but it's gotta suck...

This happened two lights in a row, BTW, and this was in my AV6. You guys should blow them out of the water. :-D

Hey Guys,

Pls don't laugh at taurus... especially thet ooglie shape... cos I used to drive one and it served me faithfully.... But well, I have to admit that the car is not meant for racing and is real slow plus it takes tons of gas.... but the plus point is that it is roomy and comfortable... I used it for road trips and have clocked abt 120 miles on it and It hasn't ever given me a tiny bit of problem. Hmmm Maybe I am the lucky one.... BTW Even when I floor the accelerator of the taurus, I have a feeling that the new sentra SE-R would have beaten me flat.

i had a 92 sho stick and never lost a race on the highway, and i raced everything from turbo eclipses to 96 z28 350's and never lost... i even beat a 5.0 mustang with gears exhaust and all other mods... my sho had pulleys , ypipe and ram air. it would do way past the 140 speedo, i really loved that car......now i have a auto 01 se max. but to my surprize i beat a 94 stock auto sho on the highway 80 mph on.......walked him pretty good i want more power though!!!!!!

That was the 2.0 165 HP engine. My friend had one of those in a Sunbird body. It was pretty fast, since the car was light. GM also had a 180 HP DOHC 2.3 for the late 80's. I had a 89 Olds at one time. It was good for mid 15's, which was pretty fast back then.
