R.I.P. My 03

the incident actually took place 9-30-07, but I've been so distraught about it that I was almost in denial. Long story short I was in a construction zone doing the speed limit, someone cut off the Jeep Commander in front of me while i was blinking, he dove on the brakes so fast that when I opened my eyes all I could remember is almost the entire back-end of the Commander filling up my windscreen. I'm only bothering with posting now because i was cleaning out the pics on my phone and saw them again...it made me terribly sad

Ouch!

You come out of it okay other than the car damage? What did you replace it with?

Well, good to know you're healing and are ready to let go.

No reason not to get another one.

Seemed like a sweet ride!

well, again, this happened back in late 07. I had -JUST- put Eibachs, Tokiko Illuminas, and 18x8.5" Gram Lights on it. not too many months before that I had gotten a Cattman Cat-Back. I absolutely loved that car, and i drove the wheels off it whenever i could.

I salvaged the Gram Lights, and they now Serve duty in a race car that I've run a few events with.

I still have the Ballasts for the HIDs on the car so if someone wants them, PM me with an offer.

I also have a Tranny Pan Gasket, and the replacement Bolts all ready to go for it as I had managed to put almost 140,000mi on it. I also have the Nissan OEM endcaps for the Ti Package rims (they were going to go on my gram lights)

My wife was asleep, slumped forward in the front seat when this happened. the Airbag deployed, compressing her neck. She literally took 10 steps out of the car, then collapsed. I nearly had a heart attack on the spot and that's another reason why it took me so long to come out with this story. She fully recovered but some things really adjusted my priorities for the time being.

I now drive an 06 crown vic. not a sporty car at all but it's big, safe, and the insurance is more than cheap enough to make up for the rape I'm taking over the accident as a consequence. I was hoping to get an 09, but lately I've been underwhelmed by it as an offering.

That's horrible bro... best of luck to ya.

You can play bumper cars and win every time with your newly acquired Crown Vic. Throw some Ds on it! Now your hood...

Glad to hear you and the wifey made it out alright!

Sorry to hear that sad story, at least now you and the wife are ok and that's what matter, even though you always end up loosing something in a car accident. Good luck and the best to you and your wife.

thats crazy man...glad u came outta it ok..

I was in a accident in my moms old infiniti, at the time I didnt have my liscence.

Some lady comes off a side street without looking, and rams the passenger side where I was. The air bad didnt deploy and I almost went through the windshield as well as my 3 year old sister. The car seat saved her life.. To this day I always drive w. a seatbelt. Just goes to show you people cant drive.

Be careful bro. RIP to another maxima.

True... I apologize for that. Makes me angry when I think about it.

thanks everyone, I appreciate your supporting comments. Like i said it was something that really distraught me, but it just goes to show how great this community is!

Yeah Dave, you know where I hang. and yes, that was heading home from Flatrock after beating the crap out of that old bimmer. now we run a 98 retired police interceptor with the gram lights off my max. It's kind of an homage to that car to take pieces of it racing with me. I'm infrequently on their forums, more often I'm on IRC. stop in and say hi if you get the chance!

on one of my reply posts I had gotten a Cattman Cat-Back put on about 4-5months before the accident. about 2 months before the accident i had gotten Tokiko Illuminas and Eibachs on 18x8.5 Gram Lights done. the car was stock as far as the engine was concerned but it was running the as good as it had ever run just before the end. I had roughly 140,000mi on her (yes i drove her wheels off!) and if this never happened I would have around 200k now, probably still not a murmur. I loved that car, and I feel like i can never again get a 5.5gen just because i will try to compare to this one, which i bought new.

There you go. the bolt pattern is an exact match. The car is actually a 1998 Model P71. in order to clear the inside suspension geometry we got some spacers from a a local place where i know the owner.
