ordered a keyfob and its not working??? possible solution found
well after about 30 mins of trying to program the fob i just ordered off ebay, i remember looking under the hood one day and seeing one of the fuse/relay boxes saying key-less. so upon further inspection i see that the location for the keyless relay is completely empty(no socket for relay or anything).
ill post pics up later.

or, the key fob off ebay doesnt have the right chip or even a chip at all in it, i have had this happen with so many ebay key fobs its not even funny, also make sure its the right key fob, thought you would, but you never know. aftermarket alarm systems also affect it.

i have the swithblade keyfob+key all in one. i dont know if this helps any. it does have a transponder chip if thats what you mean. whether or not its the right one beats me, its seems to be glued in place. and yes its the four button fob setup for the 00-01 max. i plan on calling the seller tomorrow to see if he has any incite which can help.

There great
They are pretty good, they say that they are made by the same company that makes the OEM ones. I like it because it cuts down on the size of the key chain. the buttons are a little hard but other than that it works great. Just a tip, if you order a key or a fob or the switchblade, dont go to the dealer, save 50 bucks and go to a local locksmith. Oh yeah and on the switch blade, the locksmith had to punch out the pin that holds the key in the casing because the remote part wouldnt fit in the key maker thing. So he poped the pin out, made the key, and put it back in. Works perfectly.

i bought one of those, make sure that there is a metal terminal behind the battery in the remote, that's what happened to me, i transferred everything from the old remote but the terminal, hope it helps!!!
also you gonna have to get it programmed, unless you can take out the chip from the old key and put it in the new one!
while you're at it put in a new battery cuz you don't wanna open it again n again!

Programmed new fob
I just programmed a new non-OEM fob from ebay for my 1996 Max. The instructions with the fob didn't work, so I used the following found on this link: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=33952
One thing I found was I had to put the towards the rear seat to make it work. I could hear the transmitter in the trunk clicking but the hazards would not flash when I hit the lock button on the fob. Pointed the fob to the trunk over my shoulder and the flashers flashed twice and it was programmed.
I might have a weak antenna connection. Not sure where exactly the antenna is, but I'll look for it when its light out.
