3.0 to 3.5 engine swap

For a while I have been debating selling my 2000 max for an 02-03 max. I found an engine + 6 spd tranny for sale from a totalled 02 max with 67xxx miles on it. What would be a good price to offer for the pair? What else would I need to perform the swap? My car now is a 5 spd.

first off make sure that the engine wasn't damaged from the accident. if it was a front end collision that did it, its likely something will be wrong.

I would offer $750

The other thing is...you need to venture over to all motor and read the stickies, there are two ways to do the swap.

Full swap (ecu and everything)
or
3.0 timing

You'll need the axles too, right?

If you want to use the 6MT, then yes.

But really, there is a lot of information available on this subject. You need to do some research...

Just go here and see what they're going for. I'd be looking for an 04-06 tranny if you're doing all that work. Nothing says the motor and tranny have to come from the same car.

To be honest your better off just getting the motor. The 6 speed is going to be a bit more work. The 35 should bolt up to your 5 speed. Also, 6 speed trannys on 35s are hard to drag race, your just gonna spin 1st and 2nd gear. I feel 5 speed actually has more potential. But hey if you get a good price for both definitely go for it.

One more thought. If you do swap the tranny I wouldn't even consider doing it unless you put in a unit with HLSD.

I want to do this same thing! But if I do it I want to do the full swap with ecu and everything, but how much harder would that be?
