Price and best place to buy ignition coils?

I received a P1320 code today that I researched here to be a bad ignition coil. So far the car idles and runs smoothly with no problems, but I imagine I am going to need to replace them soon.

Where is the cheapest place to buy these? I called Southpointe (DaveB) and they are $80 each. I thought I saw people saying they were $50, but maybe these posts were old?

Thanks
Ray Nist

I bought the coils from this guy, Ebay Link. He has a couple full sets right now for $289 shipped. So it comes out to a little less than $50 a coil. The ones i got were the newer version coils with the pink dot.

I replaced all 6 coils with a set purchased from ebay. All 6 went bad within 2 years. Have to wonder where they get them from at such cheap prices. Maybe clearance of old models? Cleaned up used ones? I've bought some recently from online dealers and none had pink dots. I thought those disappeared about a year ago. About $75 each is the online price from discount dealers.

Edit: I know it's blasphemy to say on this forum but I've found this site is cheaper than Dave B.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214459

Free shipping over $25 too

I have had bad luck with ebay coils too - never going that route again

Ebay does not allow you to update review - once posted.

I bought this from some seller for called 'airflowtech' - paid 170 USD or so.

Worked great for a week or so, and started failing one by one.

I finally had to toss all of them out - and figure out which coil was bad from my original (the set that came with the car - purchased brand new in 1999) - and replaced just one coil.

I will replace remaining five if I face any problems (I have Hanshin - it is not clear from this org whether it is the Hanshin or Mitsubishi that have more failures). The single replacement is Borg Warner.

Beware of ebay sellers selling cheap/bad parts. I bought 6 coils from an ebay seller and 2 crapped out immediately. Too pissed to return or deal with them so I bought the replacements from a local stealership.

I'm crossing my fingers that the others don't go out. There is a great writeup on this site to test each coil with a multimeter. Search for it.

I recommend: http://www.nissan-auto-parts-dealer.com ($78.20 ea)

There are right and left coils....make certain you buy the right one(s).

Whatever you get, make sure it's OEM Nissan, rather than some aftermarket brand...

In the above posted eBay link, it lists

22448-2Y000 x 3
22448-2y005 x 3
(grey dots)

I believe the latest p/n's are

22448-2Y001 x 3
22448-2y006 x 3
(pink dots)

I have been looking for replacement coil for my 2000SE and come across the Splitfire coils as aftermarkets. I was interested in finding out more information on the Splitfire coils that SyCefiro and Godfather are using. Thus far, I am not able to have any response from SyCefiro or Godfather in ordering these from both PM and Private email. Anyone knows if both are still around?

From what I figure, if someone here who can read Chinese and search through websites in Taiwan, try to see how to order these for us? I think South Korea is also another possibility from my searches with Google.

With current exchange rates, these maybe a viable option.

I just picked up a front coil from Oreilly's for $56. Hitachi OE unit rebuilt by Borg Warner. It had a new made in Japan sticker on it but the Nissan emblem was ground off. All the Oreilly's coils are lifetime warranty!

Hey guys, check it out I am new here. Hello everyone. Anyway I am working for the government in Germany right now and just bought a 2000 Maxima SE from another soldier. It was running like crap but I am a mechanic, and the car is clean. Long story as short as possible, coil packs are bad, says #5 but I think there are more that are bad sometimes. When it's hot, etc. I found this site and placed an order to Nissan parts link above they accepted my order took my money had no problem shipping to an APO address with my U.S. zip code.....It took them a week to tell me they canceled my order and will not ship to soldiers stationed anywhere but the U.S. mainland. I don't mean to beat a dead horse but all these companies that can ship to APO addresses for the same price as Kentucky but just won't pisses me off! Enjoy your freedom www.Nissan-auto-parts-dealer.com I will never purchase from you even when I return home. I urge all of y'all to do the same.

P.S. I ordered the same parts from Dave B and I recieved them in 6 days from Austin to Germany over a weekend! Good prices, great service and a real person to talk to, not just an automated web site. If there were any problems, and there were not, I had a name and contact number. Think about where you guys buy parts, it DOES make a difference.

I bought mine from O'Reilly/Kragen. They carry BWD parts for $70 each. PepBoys also carry the same parts in my area for $60 rear and $65 front. The parts from O'Reilly carry lifetime warranty but PepBoy's only gives 1 year warranty. I managed to get O'Reilly to match PepBoy's price.

About the BWD parts...
They are actually made by Hanshin. Comparing them to the genuine Nissan parts, they have the exact same Hanshin part number molded on them (MCP2840 rear, MCP2850 front). The only difference is that the Nissan part number and Nissan logo are scratched away. For the rear one, it has a silver sticker on it saying "MCP2843 Made in Japan" and for the front one "MCP2851 Made in Japan."

The last time when I replaced the coils 6 years ago, I bought the whole set of 6 from a Nissan dealer in Canada. At that time, the list price was only CAD$32 (about US$25 at the exchange rate at that time). I am not sure if these are still cheaper in Canada now. If you live near the border, it is worth calling to check.

BWD Coils Poland

just went to buy coils in advanceauto. I figured I would get the bwd since they are hanshin oem's. The back coil was a hanshin but the front one was made in polan and its resistance was only 1.3 instead the 1.4 that I got on my working coils and on the bwd/hanshin. Anybody have any problems with the poland made coils? I called autozone and their duralast brand is made in japan. Anybody know if it is hanshin?

I got one of the Poland made ones from Advancedauto. It didn't work and I had to send it back. Will only buy OEM from now on. If it's made by Hanshin it might be ok but no guarantees.

Yep. Buy non-OEM coils at your own risk. Yeah, they may work, but the reliability is a hit or miss. The idea that non-OEM coils also throw a CEL has been tossed around as well. I'd research the reasoning behind that theory, but I'm too lazy at the moment.

Are these OEM coils: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Coi...c781a6&vxp=mtr

I contacted the seller and the seller says they are made by Hanshisn. I asked if hey had a red or gray dot on them and seller said there are no dots.

I'm telling you man...Dealer, OEM coils is the ONLY way to be sure. Who knows what these others are hawking on Ebay or aftermarket auto web sites. If it has "no dot" then steer clear of it.

I have 2 OEM coils for the front cylinder 2.4.6 of the engine that work well if your interested.. I had one bad coil in cylinder 2 and I just ended up replacing all 3 in the front. I'll let them go for $20 a piece if your interested.
