It's not you nor the car ... it's your tires.

I have had my 02 6spd for almost a year and I spin to much in 1st lol. I haven't even come close to mastering the launch. and I chirp 2nd and could spin a little if I want. You know how old/new your tires are? Idk if that makes a huge difference but mine aren't great tires so even if they are new it might just be easier for me to spin them. I got the injen too (want to get rid of it if I can sell it).
I'm suprised that you can't spin in first and you sound experienced enough to floor it lol. So i'm not sure exactly what it could be. Doesn't sound like its you though.

Stiffer motor mounts have always given me less wheel/spin = more traction. And as long as its not crazy hot out I can squeal to tires by stabing the gas. Im assuming you don't mean launching the car, just WOT from a rolling start. Your car is fine, if you want traction issues in 1st throw on some headers.

I'm on my 4th set of tires, and regardless I could never go WOT in 1st gear without spinning...I definitely got more traction when my tires were new, but never to the point where I could wring out 1st gear and not lose traction completely....HLSD won't help you in a straight, smooth road...mostly when you're turning. If the tires have equal traction they should both spin even with an open diff.

Mine doesn't lose traction completely but it does spin through the gear, it's probably just your tires...besides why are you complaining anyway, the better the traction the faster the car

Get a dyno or a run @ the track with GOOD conditions

HLSD does make a difference in a straight line. It helps tremendously. I swapped trannys to get it and did nothing else to the car at the time. I didn't even change the clutch since I had just changed it a few months before. The launch is way better and the tourque steer is a lot less. When I did the swap a few years ago I was going to the drag strip regularly so I was very in tune with how the car would launch under controlled conditions.

Driving in the rain feels a lot better now too. If I lay into it and spin the tires the car stays straight. If I did that before it would pull strongly to the right and I'd have to catch it.

I've driven several Spec Vs and several different Maximas. The Maximas always felt stronger than the Spec Vs. You might want to look at basic tune up services. Clean the MAF, new plugs (probably original) etc...

Headers will make a big difference on the 3.5.

I almost know how you feel. i love taking my car to vegas or cali its like an instant 25hp i think the conversion is about 3% loss in hp per 1000 ft of elevation.

maybe your clutch is hating life a little and how could it not if you are constantly trying to roast your tires and slam it into second. you might want to consider checking your clutch adjustment and take into consideration the condition of your clutch. You may just be limited by the amount of friction your clutch can create to transfer the power of your engine to your tranny.

yea man..why destroy tires when you dont have to. i mean if you're getting nice traction you get a better jump off the line to gobble up some Ac TL who's eyein you up at the light. Dont trash a nice set of tires-wait till they wear in and then have your fun .
My auto (w/TCS off) lays it down for a good 25 feet if I ask her to...but not so easily with new tires thats for sure.

the car weighs a little more than a sentra, theres more weight on newer tires. and im sure if you rev the tach up enough, youll spin em, i layed a short strip and a little smoke in my 00 5 spd, and i always hop a bit in 2nd if i get on it

If you're really concerned, get a dyno. Attend one of those cheap dyno days for like 30$ for 3 or more runs.

Idk man i have a 1997 nissan maxima GLE with cheap sams club tires and it chirps second. The way i can chirp second is i put the car into first and floor it and let up off the gas when i shift into second at around 5k and then floor it while it changes gears. I know this may not be good for my car but ive only done it about 3 times and it worked about 2/3 of those times!

All kinds of factors... tire pressure, road debris, tread depth, temperature, humidity, weight distribution, suspension issues. Too many for a single answer.

Regardless the reason, the real trick is to learn how to keep it just south of that edge where you break loose, without actually spinning. Intentional burnouts are kind of childish off the drag strip.

But if that's your thing... consider that a FWD burnout is rather silly looking.

Judging your car's power by its ability to spin its tires is probably the silliest thing I've ever heard. There are too many factors at play.

Pay a few bucks to hop on the dyno and see where you're at, or make some passes at a drag strip. Not only will you get better results, but you'll save your clutch, tranny, and tires from the torture.

try trading front tires wit someone. i had the same prob i had a set of all season potenzas on and i could spin to third. then i got a set or G sports and third wont spin unless it wet. now that i got 19s second just does a decent cherp. if u got the tires a little wider thats deffinatly the problem. Since u have an hlsd its job is to reduce a wheel spin and cause more traction. Plus u dont got cheap tires why bother spinning them

Why is wheel spin always the measure of power?
If you really want to know the power output(whp) Dynojet is your friend.
