Well, Its happened.. again... THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!

Thats right, Jan 21st was the first, and now this morning the 2nd. I was stopped in a line of traffic making a left and (I'll be nice) a woman hit me going at least 45 MPH. I have a tendency to look in the rear view mirror now since the earlier accident, so I braced for the impact and BANG, Lexus RX330 meet 2000 SE. They took me away on a back board, tests, x-rays negative and I'm ok, but the car is probably totalled.

I was just about to put some money in it and drive it to the ground, but that now looks like a pipe dream. The entire rear section is bent, twisted, broken, damage, and scratched. Basically FUBAR..

Not sure what I am going to do. I have been looking at 07-09 Maxima's but I'll have to wait until all of the insurance stuff is worked out before I make a decision. The 1st accident hasn't been resolved yet, still waiting on settlement. I'm not sure if this will take as long, but hopefully I can be in a new ride sooner rather than later.

She had a brush bar on the front and it went over the bumper and hit mostly metal... I tried to move out of the way when I saw that impact was certain. I turned left but still brushed Honda CR-V in front of me.

Flexril is my friend... all hoopie on the good stuff right now.. Flexril is my friend...

geeeeez man....what was the woman doing? Not looking? on her cell phone? etc. Some people (well a LOT of people) seriously can't drive. It just sucks that the rest of us end up having to pay for their actions one way or another. Hopefully everything works out for you though.

Guys, thanks for the good words, I am currently looking at a 6th or 7th Gen Max, Acura RL, M35/45 or MB E500. haven't spoken to the ins company yet, they are suppose to go early this week.

The only problem is the 1st accident isn't settled yet, so I'm hopeful that I get that settled sooner rather than later, and I can put everything down on the new ride.

Ouch....sorry to hear that.....good luck with the recovery and good luck dealing with the insurance companies and the new car. Enjoy the pain meds while you can

From the picture, it looks like the max held up pretty well considering the 4000+ lb. SUV hit you at 45 mph. I would expect a whole lot more damage from that. After seeing all the accident threads on here, it seems that the maxima really holds up well in collisions and makes me feel a bit more safe on the road driving one.

Not planning on it, unless the negotiation on the replacement value doesn't go the way I want and I can keep it for "free".

I'm sorry, did you say Jan 21st????

Why the hell is it taking so long? Is the responsibility of the accident in question? In this case, you were rear-ended so there is zero probability of contested liability, so it shouldn't take long at all.

I hate $hitty drivers..

I was in 2 accidents.... "Thats right, Jan 21st was the first, and now this morning the 2nd." The ins companies, my medical coverage, and the hospital screwed up the billing. Its a long story, but I think I have put the correct parties in touch with each other so the 1st accident gets settled.

The adjuster faxed me a report yesterday and the fair market value came out to $6,147.19. They put a salavage value on the car of $826.00. So if I keep it they will deduct that amount from the FMV.

The report was for Average Private Condition but I disagree with some of that since I put $ into it over the past 6 months with the intention of driving it to the ground and the car was spotless. I have a call into the ins rep to see if I can get additional allowance for the condition and new parts. (rear brakes, calipers, rotors, and exhaust from the mid-pipe back).

I am also going to ask for Tax, Title, Delivery Prep, Doc Fees, etc. all of the other out of pocket expenses that I will incur when I get a new car. So, its a wait and see at this point. If I had a garage where I could part the car, I would, I'm sure I could make up the $862 quickly.
