Ummmm..obviously thses guys haven't been in any American cars lately...the last 2 cars I have rented were a 2000 Impala and a 2001 Monte Carlo. After getting back into my Max I felt like I was in a go cart with my butt 6 inches off of the pavement. The cabins of the GM cars were way more spacious and comfy.

Aight, normally I trust Edmunds.com and highly respect their articles, but this one is a bunch of total utter crap. The Maxima may win the numbers game, but there's more to those numbers than meets the eyes.
Most of you guys know that I'm a HUGE Maxima fan (which is why I'm here), and it was actually my first choice of car, but one of the reasons I didn't get one and got an Accord V6 instead was because I couldn't fit comfortably in the Maxima at all!!!
I fit great in my Accord, and it's not even on the list...
Maybe they should make a new category for "distance between right side of steering wheel and left side of center console stack" because that's what really kills me - those "swept" center stacks that blend into the center console, thus killing your right leg knee room.
My Accord and the Altima, and the new Camry all have a "broken" design that separates the two and I have plenty of room in all of those. Hopefully they'll redesign the Maxima with this in mind.

The plastic sure does feel and look like ****, especially in the Monte....the damn center console felt like it was going to fall apart however the split bench with the fold down center console in the Impala was awesome..Probably one of the most comfy cars I've ever driven and I drove the **** out of it in Cali last Feb.
My wife will probably be in the market for some new wheel soon and the Imp will probably get the nod.
