02 vs 04

Well here it is.. I talked Sh** to my boy telling him his moms 04 Max couldn't beat my 02 Max, so to make a long story short and not talk about anything illegal we found out that his moms max was faster. here are the mods for each car.

04 Max is stock and runs 87 octane, AUTO TRANNY

02 Max - OBX R headers, Timing advance, throttle body spacers, Stillen Intake, and runs 93 Octane Exxon * ALSO just changed plugs and no SES light AUTO TRANNY

WHY WAS I A BUS BEHIND HIM??

HELP IM GETTING DISCOURAGED

Do you have an auto or manual? From what I gather, the autos are somewhat slower then the manuals.

An 02 will beat an 04 stock for stock..Since yours is somewhat modded you should've gotten him relatively easily...

Either you can't drive a manual to save your life or something is wrong with your max....either a very bad vacuum leak or....could be a lot of things...

There's no way that should have happened. But regardless the outcome, your friend had to drive Mommy's car.

Clever bus photo, though.

ok heres the deal..... im the one that was driving "mommys" o4 max.....i have a max of my own.... its a 4th gen... and if you read correctly, both cars wer auto... but theres a difference in the tranny's dat we noticed.... the o4 has a 5 spd auto where the 03 doesnt... so we also noticed that wen the 04 is shifting the RPMS dont drop below 5000 that could be could be explanation..... the 04 clearly has a better auto tranny... i have also raced one stock for stock auto and it still lost.... i jus think that ther is a general under estimation

If I remember my advertising correctly, it was 265 hp in the 6th gen, and 255 hp stock in the 5.5 gen.

You see, I'm just jealous. When I was a kid, my mom drove an AMC Ambassador station wagon. Of course, that had a 390 4bbl...

Yeah... good times.

Too funny, Ogre.

This got way off topic. Sorry for that. (I blame the Ford Pinto.)

KingJames, you know that your modded 5.5 gen should have easily handled a stock 6 gen. You've got that 10 extra HP covered easily. So obviously you've got something wrong going on.

Sometimes performance drains creep up on you and you forget what normal is. Like when your air or fuel filters get clogged.

This was a good wake-up call. Good luck finding the problem(s).
