Coolant Spray... (pics) This ever happened to you???

On my way home today I noticed my windshield was getting hit with water... at least I thought it was water.

Under closer look in the garage I noticed that under high rpm coolant was spraying out of the front of the car. Upon closer look noticed this:

This leak is just to the left of the radiator hose and seems like an odd place for a leak.

Has this leak popped up for anyone else on the forum? Any similar circumstances? This just tripped me out that coolant was spraying out from in this location. Doesn't seem like this is where a leak should start...

Looks like a common leak by the seam.

The seam is the most common area for any radiator to leak. I replaced two at the shop today. One had a similar leak right up on top by the filler neck. The other, the upper filler neck basically just imploded. Granted, it was about 110 degrees today.

How many miles are on your car? If you take it to a shop and they can do a compression check on the radiator to help pin point whether or not you have a leak.

I have 87k on the dial. Im pretty sure theres a leak. I know this because it sprayed out all over my garage when I had the hood up and mashed the gas It went about 20 feet. Plus I can see the seperation right at the label... why the hell did they put that there if it ruins mold integrity?

Anyways... Ordered a Koyo rad from the group special here on the ORG. Got it for $140 shipped and am gonna install myself. Just for kicks I called my local stealership to get a qoute... $792.

I just laughed and asked if he felt bad for telling me that.

An easy install as well.

At least you noticed it before it became a real problem!
