Necessary to replace mounts same time as struts?
Necessary to replace mounts same time as struts?
I used search and couldn't find anything.. My struts have been blown for a quite a while now (clunking and now bouncy as hell) i'm just waiting for the cash to come along to get new struts.
I'm just wondering tho, is it necessary to replace the mounts at the same time? How do i know if the mounts are bad? I've never done struts before so sorry if this is a noob question.

Changing out struts is a fair amount of work, so as with anything that involved, take the opportunity to "make new" as much as you can.
they also squeak
Might as well replace them while you've got it all apart. Make sure to grease as well. Dave Burnette will get you the best price on the mounts

If you're doing the work yourself, and you are strapped for cash, I'd say hold off unless you have clunking. If you are paying someone to install, you might as well replace now otherwise you may have to pay more labor charges down the road. I got my mounts from www.rockauto.com ......they actually had better prices than what I was quoted by Dave

Go for Moog mounts. Better than OEM and who knows what you might get on EBay.
I think the Part Numbers are the same for all 5th Gens. These are the Part Numbers for a 2003.
Fronts are Part Number K90655 and includes the bearing
Rears are Part Number K90299
They also have Strut Bellows which includes the bumper
Front K90463
Rear K90467
You might want to check on the sway bar links also. While you have everything else off. That's where I was getting a lot of my noise from
The Moog's are thicker and have grease fitting compared to stock
Part Numbers are
K90432 for the left
and
K90431 for the right
After that the only other thing on the front for suspension is the balljoints
Hope this helps.
