diminishing range on keyless entry

When i first bought my car the range on the keyless entry was good, i could lock/unlock from 200 yards away even more if i put the remote up to my head.

The range and has slowly been diminishing (50 feet at best) since then and i have to push the button several times even when well within range to get the doors to lock/unlock.

I have tried changing the batteries twice with new batteries which i later tested and were good.

I have a new remote on the way because i want a spare anyway but do you guys think the problem is with my remote or the receiver in the car?

My guess would be the receiver in the car. In my experience with aftermarket alarms and factory key-less entry systems, the receiver in the car goes bad first. If the remote still works (and you tried new batteries) and you have the same results with a new one, I would consider getting an aftermarket alarm with extended range so you can be notified of alarm status, arm and disarm, and if appropriate, remote start. Good Luck

I've had the same problem. How much would was it for a new keyless system?

It depends on what you get, where you get it, who installs it, what accessories you get, etc.

For prices on just the unit, search. Really, if you do your own research, you'll get more accurate prices than us telling you what ours were.

For prices on install, again, search. They vary by shop, product, and even technician.

So basically, learn how to search, and you'll find all your answers.
