Prep for paint help

I just bought a AE Lip off someone and i want to prep it before i take it to the body shop. the more money i can save the better.
The Lip comes in 3 pieces and it all messes up. LOL. Some are seem primed while other parts are painted and prime. I looks crazy. Anyways i want to just prep it and do stuff myself before i take it to paint.
What are the first steps.
Also i have a little crack on one of the pieces nothing major but i would like to fix before paint. How can i fix that.

I would let them do it. If the paint doesn't look good, cracks, or peels off you will have no recourse with the body shop.

IMHO - leave it to the pros. And go to a body shop with a good reputation.

Are you saying that knowing someone there makes them Not Suck???
The people that work there know people outside of Maaco, that doesn't mean Maaco doesn't suck. LoL

Sry to ***** up your thread, but yeah (as everyone else said), I'd just let a trustworthy shop w/ a good rep. do the work.

Where are you located???
