anyone know how to eliminate knock sensor?
Hey guys,
I have a 2k3 auto and have code P0327 for the knock sensor. I changed the knock sensor and the code immediately comes back. Changed it again and same thing. We tested the wiring harness for continuity but not for resistance and it was fine. Yesterday, we changed the knock sensor for a third time as well as the wiring harness and the code still comes back.
I finally spoke to a well renowned Nissan tech here in the Toronto area. He said I could just eliminate the knock sensor by keeping it plugged in but removing it from the area where it detects knock.
Anyone ever do this or have other suggestions?
BTW I recently changed all the coils and plugs. Tested all of them and they work fine. None of the plugs are cracked either.

maybe find the knock dude. obviously somethings wrong with your motor. getting rid of the thing that is telling you that theres a problem wont fix anything. it could most definatley be something other than your plugs and coils.
If the P0327 code is correct, then it's for the ECM detecting a knock sensor LOW voltage. It is NOT from the knock sensor detecting pinging. You would appear to still have a circuit problem and need to do more troubleshooting. Anyway, why would you want to eliminate a sensor designed to help prevent serious engine damage, even if it had been sensing pinging? I think your Nissan renowned tech is blowing smoke.
Checked the grounds and they were good.
Sounds like more troubleshooting is required in the form of tracing the wiring all the way back to the ECM. I guess, I figured with continuity and no resistance in the knock sensor harness that the problem could not be further past that.

B/c the KS is a pain in the ***. All it wants to do is pull timing for no reason, fail, or have this problem. Run 93 octane and bypass the crap and then you don't have to worry about it.
If you have a problem for w/e reason, later, then just plug it back in.
I bypassed it on my old car and already did on this one. It won't be plugged in until it's boost time.

hey bro, how's youir windows? Do they work ok now?
SO who told you to just relocate sensor, RYAN? haha good one. I'll slap him on the back of his head tomorrow
Ok is code comes back right away and you have 2 new sensors (less likely 2 are bad) you may have one of 2 things. Either wiring issue or ECM fault. ECM wants to see a certain resistance from the harness and sensor hooked up. If you have corrosion on harness resistance goes up and ECM thinks you have a bad sensor, right? Now also if ECM has internal failure on that particular circuit inside there may actually be resistance within spec from sensor but it gets whacked out readings. So tell ryan to test harness for resistance and if that is wothin spec then you are safe assuming it is an ECM. Also Knock sensor won't trigger a MIL light

haha what's going on homey? The windows are still working great. No more embarrassment with the ladies.
It was Ryan who got tired of searching for the problem and just wanted to relocate the sensor lol. I'm going to backhand that douche before you do. I knew the motor was fine as the code comes back no matter where you ground the sensor. I booked two hours at Vic's shop and will just test the wiring all the way back to and including the ECM.
BTW - finally solved some of the performance issues. The previous owner, for some reason, removed the vacuum hoses that connect to the power valve. When he put them back, they were connected to the wrong areas so the valve wasn't opening.

It was WHO that told you to relocate the knock sensor?!?!?!?! Cause I specifically remember you telling me that Vic's shop told you to tell me to do this and i figured that if I did it you would finally go home and leave my garage.....
