To anyone who has painted their tail lights.....

I am going to paint my tail lights body color and I was wondering, how many coats did you put on? Should I put on a clear coat? Is there a specific clear coat that I need, or are they all the same? Thanks!

That's what my tail is gonna look like (hopefully ) but in Gray Lustre. Do you think spray paint (in the correct color) will have results like that?

I went to two different body shops to see if they would do it. First one said no. That the painting might affect/melt the plastic. The other just didn't do custom jobs. We need to find out more details as to how its done. I would not use spray paint since it you need to match your paint perfectly for it to look good. We need to talk to someone who has actually done it like the guy in the pic with the Sterling Mist.

I would suspect that the painting process would first involve sanding down the entire surface to be painted. Of course, once this happens, there's no turning back...

No, I am going to make it like that guy with the Sterling mist. Paint everything except the parts that light up.
