Got 17" winter tires today :-)
and now I don't have to drive like Grandpa anymore
The RE92 were not good in Canadian winter. Going uphill, and turning corners were 'interesting'. I looked at tirerack and they (consumers) didn't rank the RE92 too highly.
I checked the winter tire ranking and looked at the Blizzaks, Artic Alpine, and the Dunlop Sport. These 3 ranked similarily and I went with the LM22 Blizzak. They ranked higher than the Michelin and Dunlop, and quite a bit better in handling vs the Ws50, Mz01, mz02 Blizzaks. In snow the Ws50 seems to be better.
Anyway, you might choke when you see this. I got 235 45 17 as I didn't want to buy 16" rims, and I didn't want the MZ01 which was available in 225 50 17. On the way home I felt much better and did very in the ice/snow. There were a slip here and there but what can you do. Also long as I don't hit any igloos I will be happy
